Spoke to my contact at Nissan Canada (V.P.). There were to be 400 pre-orders available in Canada, but dealers have sold 600. Many are cancelling their orders now which is expected and that is why they (dealers) oversold. Also, the first ship to bring the cars to Canada is already booked for August 25th. Then every two weeks following that another ship will leave Japan for Canada's west coast. There are 45 cars being put on that first ship. They have no idea what 45 will be on the first ship yet.
So If the States are getting their first shipments on August 15th, it looks like we will be at least a month behind. Makes sense though considering that the car, fully loaded is about $8,000 more in the States. That is why they are going to make us sign at delivery that we will not sell the car outside Canada. Dealers have been threatned by Nissan that they will loose their distributorship if the cars make their way to the States.

Recieved an email from my dealer yesterday after i inquired about estimated delivery time. She received info from nissan canada that there has been an unexpected delay in production. A number of pre-ordered Z's that were set for june production have been bumped back to July. However, the cars that were set for june production will get priority and will be produced before those that were set for July. She said that mine was set for June production but will bumped to july and i should expect the car towards the end of august or beggining september. I was expecting delivery around that time anyways.
My understanding of the situation in Canada is this, unless you pre-order one, don't expect to see one in the show room, or test drive one(unless you know someone that purchased one). Kind of like when I pre-ordered my Type-R.
yeah, since canada doesn't have a big market like US and does not worry about selling there show car, on the other hand, if i'm one of the customer and i see the showcar, i would rather order a new one then just getting an show one, but instead, in US, they run out of order already, buying a car that u can get it immediately is better than anything~

No, No, No. I mean WE, THE BUYER, are goin to have to sign. It is called an af fidavit of non-export. If you sell it outside Canad and nissan finds out, then they will have the right to sue you big time. I hope no one in Canada had the intention of purchasing and then selling in the States.

Gawd, a millimeter? What can you do with it? Now and INCH: that's a real measuring unit!
