Default Dealer Experience

I just stopped by my dealer to see if they had any information. Needless to say, they don't. It seems Nissan is keeping them as much in the dark as they are keeping us. It was reiterated that the cars should arrive in August. I was surprised to learn that there are 9 cars in the pre-order allotment, and that they're not sold out. Also, there are no plans (at least on the dealer's part) of having a pre-order deadline. It seems that they're just continuing to send in any orders they may get.

Oh, and no sign of any free promotional goodies like some of you lucky people have gotten.

Finally, I dropped off the address of this website.

actually, i think this is the actual deadline (although dan ziegler of smithtown nissan says June 16) for any pre-order. this means that if you don't pre-order the Z, you'll have to wait until dealers start getting them on their lots. you won't be able to custom order your car and will have to take whatever they've got, just like with other cars. this also probably means that they'll be able to charge whatever they want for it, instead of being limited to MSRP by nissan.

I dunno. I don't see any incentive for Nissan to stop the pre-order program. I mean, the cars will be built one way or the other, and this way, they have firm commitments.

I guess it may be a pain to keep on producing "custom" cars. Although, there really aren't that many options to make the cars all that custom.

Unhappy

I stopped by my dealer yesterday for the first time since ordering it 3 months ago. They had no information and the guy behind the desk joked about Nissan not realeasing HP ratings yet. I doubt I'll get any freebies from these people, they seem a bit sleazy, but they are close to me....

How are dealers limited by Nissan to MSRP? What about all of those dealers charging 3000, 7500 and even up to 10,000 over MSRP? Nissan might be suggesting -- even encouraging -- dealers to charge MSRP, but anyone who can get more is charging it. Try asking around and see. The "limited by Nissan" theory sounds nice, but unfortunately it has no correlation with what's happening in the real world.

When I ordered the car in March the dealer told me that Nissan plans to sell about a third of total production through pre orders if they can...figuring a total production of 30.000...(wait..I'm running out of fingers) OK that's 10,000 pre orders. Don't know how much fact is involved here since I still know more about the car than they do. They did tell me that after pre orders they intend to mark the car up $5K to $10K....whatever the market will bare ("bare"...as in rape)

Angry

Dealers just make me wretch! For every decent one there are 50 uninformed, polyester pants, clip on tie wearing miscreant who is barely capable of holding any type of conversation or even use the most basic tools. I better stop now before i really go off on a rant! I will look at the Brickyard pics and soothe myself.

I preordered in the middle of April and have heard not a peep from anyone. I've been following the forums a while, so I figured they know less than me anyways. My fingers are crossed that everything goes smoothly.

Uncross your fingers and get on the phone!!!

Get the dealer to answer your questions...if they don't have answers, ask them to find them...then, if it's new info...post it here...don't be shy..it's your money.
