Default Gtech runs

It was 65 degrees today so I decided to take the car for some runs.
touring model / 6speed
Tire pressure: fronts: 35psi rears: 25psi
VDC off
1/8th tank of gas

1st run: 1500RPM launch, clutch feather, then full throttle=6.02
2nd run: 1500RPM launch, clutch feather, full throttle=6.2 blah
3rd run: 2900RPM launch, clutch feather, dumped gas = 5.8

This is the first time I really tried this. My 3rd run was a very good run. However, for all three 0-60 runs, I shifted at 6200RPMs. Is this too soon?

I went on a backroad and did one 1/4mile run. Pavement sucked and I didnt get traction off the line. I was also distracted in 3rd gear and finished the 1/4mile half a$$ (read=not totally full throttle). I thought I saw a cop
1/4 was 14.4@102.9mph

Will go to the track for 1/4mile to get time. Safer too

thanks. Yea I think I may be able to get it into the mid 5s if I shift later (near redline). Not sure though. Doing 4 runs in one day makes you think you'll break something though lol

I think that you should definately shift at or close to the redline.
Have you dynoed your car?
Usually, even if the power drops at top end, it's still more beneficial to take it up to the redline due to gearing.
For example, this was my stock dyno:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/dps/...0503-229hp.jpg
In my case, the hp does not drop at all up to redline (we stopped at 6500RPM), so I would definately be better off not shifting until I reach 6500-6600RPM.
Let's say however, that a given car's HP drops to 225 at redline from it's peak of 230 at 6250.
This means that between 6250 and 6600, your power is between 225 and 230. If you decide to switch at 6250, your next gear will drop your RPM to a hypothetical 5000, which, if we use my dyno, sets me at 200hp. When I race, I would much rather take the car to redline and have it drop a little after the peak and then switch gears to a hypothetical 5300RPM where I am making 210 and have it grow from there than to have my power drop from 230 right down to 200 with an early gear shift.
I hope I am still making sense and someone please correct me if I am oversimplifying the matter. I am only basing this on simple logic. Of course, another thing to consider, especially when drag racing, is whether your early shifting is causing you an extra shift, which could add on a bit of time.

But as I said before, dynoing your car should help you know exactly what kind of curve your engine produces which will give you a definite answer either way.

What I did when I did my runs with the G-Tech was this:

Pull up onto an onramp of a highway (after cruising up and down the stretch you are going to use to make sure no cops are lurking). You also have to make sure there is no on directly in front of you on the highway and no one coming up on you.

When it is totally clear, LAUNCH! If you position yourself on the ramp correctly, it is almost a straight shot with no need to turn.

The best I got was 13.13 at 112 MPH but I had tons of wheelspin. I didn't drop the pressure in my rear tires. It was about 70 degrees out when I did it.

I have herd that same with many Infiniti owners as well. One Q45 owner dynoed higher numbers at 112k miles that at 65k.

Default Best e.t. yet

Well, I have to give a big WOOHOO to the new Nismo rims and Dunlop SP sport 9000 tires. The nice cold, dense, dry air helped too (34 degrees F.)

Even in this cold, I can now launch from 3500rpm with perfect hookup. The lower rotating mass (forged, gotta love it) looks like it's giving me 2-3HP as well.
