How much did you pay for your used Z?
How are you guys finding such great deals? Craigslist in my area has nothing, couple riced 350z with high miles, high price. I'm looking to spend around 13k for one and most of them have 80-90k miles.
but in reality the majority of people aren't getting those kind of deals, for example in FL you will be lucky to find an 06-08 with under 50k miles for under 17k.
Hell even 03's are still 12k+ in florida, obviously there are outliers like lump and some others,
just find a clean car that you like and go for it, life is too short to keep wasting time.
you are looking at a very small % of 350z owners, so yea it will seem like everyone is getting a sick deal

My first 07 I bought with 6000 miles in early 2012, yes you read that right 6k miles, for 18k from a private seller, it was his 3rd car and he was moving - timing was right and I bought it. I ended up selling it for 21k with 14k miles in late 2013, I missed the Z too much so I just recently picked up another 07 with 26k miles for an OK deal, nothing great like my first 07, just a mediocre market value.
So to anyone else reading this - Yes there is a chance if you wait that it will pay off and you will get a great deal, but there is also a chance that you won't and will end up with something worse. So if you are in the market, look around a bit and pull the trigger on the best example you can get your hands on.
I bought my 2003 Touring last October for $11.5K in the Bay Area, Calif. It had 45K miles and was in great shape, but had a dent repair on the roof (tree branch fell on it). Overall condition a 9 out of 10 for the age, all stock. Needed all fluids, belts, and brakes when I bought it, also has a slight oil leak on the drivers side rear valve cover (probably the dreaded spark plug leak as I have found out reading this site). I put new rotors (slotted/drilled), pads, and did the fluids (had my shop do the brake bleed and tranny/diff). Tires were OK , I have 50K and the rears have about 3-5K left, hwever, the TPMS need to be replaced. Overall, excluding the 9% Cal sales tax, I put about $12.3 to that point. I changed the head unit for a Kenwood with 6.5" display and iPhone kit for about $450 with Best Buy install as they will do the pull for warranty and will re-install your stock unit into the car for free when you sell. I have since put a Hotchkis spring and sway bar set and am doing Kinetix UFCA and SPC Camber Kit and a Motordyne spacer (will fix the valve covers at the same time). Also bought a used Magnaflow catback for $200 from a guy who went FI and it was too loud. I am putting on 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 Raze wheels (I know they are knock offs - not planning to track - $360 including shipping and tax with rings and lugs) and new tires (bought a staggered set of used Michellin Pilot Sports for $400) It is a really great and fast toy for the $15K or so that I will have in it. Also bought it because I have not worked on my own cars for years and am doing the work for fun on the weekends (probably should add few hundred in new tools to my investment). BTW, I also own a 1989 Porsche 911 Targa that is almost perfect (95k/clean) and the 350z is actually more fun to drive, partially because it is not so collectible and I worry less, but also with the mods the 350z handles significantly better and is faster as well.

Deception:
You have to be willing to go out of town, I look in the 300 mile radius first, if I cant find anything I go further etc.. I was ready to go 1800 miles and pick one up, then I found two within 80 miles of my house, lol just have to look hard, then have to contact sellers to see how realistic their prices are, you can find a deal, just take your time.
It took me a month to find 3 07" Z's for under 15k$ all with under 50k miles.
I bought my 2007 with 36442 on it for 13k cash, I wasnt going to buy anything older than an 07 and no more than 60k miles on it and no more than 15k$, lots of deals that meet those numbers out there especially if you dont mind color, if you want a silver one they are a dime a dozen for those prices.

I found one 1 mile from my house got real lucky. Emailed him and told him I'm interested with cash in hand. Met as soon as he was free and bought the car on the spot.
If you want a good deal, you need to have cash ready and ride ready.
