Default 350z road test question

How many road tests, tested the Z in 13s? Only motor trend? Also: I've been looking at a few road tests for the RX8, and both Car and driver and motor trend got a 0-60= 5.9 and 1/4mile=14.5 with the rx8. Isnt that faster than when they first came out? Thought they tested at high 14s. I remember rx8 guys complained that they couldnt duplicate the numbers at the track

Motor Trend is the only mag i know of. Mag times are very subjective, in terms of whos driving the car, what the track prep condition is, good or bad, and what the wheather is, hot or cold, low or high humidity, and what the atmospheric pressure(barometer) was that day. A classic example is the 350Z Roadster and the 350Z Coupe testing, the Roadster ran the 1/4 .1 tenth faster then the Coupe??? How is this, when the Roadster weighs 2-3 hundred pounds heavier, with the same Hp/gearing as the coupe.
But my big question is do the drivers of these cars, when they test them, just hop into them and run them down the the track?
Or do they actually spend time, more then just ahalf of a day, getting to know how to drive the car the best? I know for a fact that if I were to just jump in and test a car that I dont know, I would not do very well. But after I get comfortable with it, atleast acouple hundred miles of driveing it, I would improve my times dramaticly.

:Edit for spelling:

Actually, the roadster is geared a little differently than the coupe.

2nd 2.32
3rd 1.62
4th 1.27
5th 1.00
6th 0.79
reverse 3.45
Final drive ratio 3.54

i was reading a bit of the rx8 forums and i dont think many have gotten into the 14.5's. From the few times i saw, i think they usually get high 14's, low 15's with a trap around 90-91. I only read 1 forum and it was clubrx8.com or something like that and i didn't read too much of it. You might want to check it out and read a bit more of what times they're normally running.

Okay, I stand corrected. I would've thought they would've had to redo the gear ratios to compensate for the drop top.
