XPEL Clear Bra
Hi fellow 350Z owners,
I have just taken delivery of my Roadster and was looking to protect the front end of it before the LA roads make mince meat out of it.
Has anyone had the XPEL clear bra fitted ? www.xpel.com
If so how does it look, was it worth it.
Has anyone else had any other clear bras applied ?
Im sure that any other SoCal drivers would agree the state of the roads suck & giving the car some extra protection would be a great benefit.

Xpel is just the name of a kit (person who cuts the material). Xpel tends to fit better (hearsay), but their kits where not able to cover all the areas I wanted covered so I had to go with a different kit who's company is based somewhere in Texas (sorry forgot the name).
All the clear bras are made from 3M film, it just matters on the installers - what kind of glue they use(some glues tend to yellow after time), and whether or not they use razor blades in trimming the kit on your car or not. Ask before if they use razors to cut the bra on the vehicle.
When the car is clean you really can't tell, when dirty though you barely can. Overall I am very glad I had it done. Now I don't have to worry about small debris flying into my front when driving.

I loved the way my Xpel kit fit. After my accident, I pulled part of the bra off of the bumper where it experianced MASSIVE slide and burn marks (sliding across a cement wall) and the paint uner was perfectly fine... The bumper was more than destroyed, but wit hthe exception of a couple parts where it tore all the way threw it kept the paint perfect. Kinda irrelevant but I found it kinda cool..
Got my 3M clear bra last month and I highly recommend getting
one.
Before I got it I started getting a few small paint chips.
all before I even hit 1000 miles on my Z.
There is a great place in Torrence

I definitely recommend the 3M clear bra. I will have it installed immediately once my Z arrives next month. I currently have it on my 03 Sequoia. Not one problem in almost a year. EDL in Torrance did a great job on the install.
I just had my 3m "clear bra" by Xpel installed this morning. Half the hood, front bumper, headlights, all 4 wheel openings, and mirrors for $740 (in the northern NJ area). Very happy so far!! Just picked up my car a week ago, and I don't want to risk anything.
If anyone in the NY Metro area needs someone to do the clear bra for their car, I highly reccomend "Monster Coatings" in Garfield, NJ. They have the machine to cut the film and everything. They did a really nice job. Free hand car wash too...hahaha!! I think the guy's name was Laslow and his number is listed on www.xpel.com when you put in your zip code. The company will warranty the film and their work for 5 years with a $1,000.00 paint protection and headlight guarantee.
I learned my lesson with my 1998 Toyota Corolla with a custom fiberglass front bumper. Looks like someone took a BB gun to it!! Peace all...

Definitely go for it. I got the Xpel kit installed on my SS. Paid $875 for the fender, lights, front bumper, hood, and rear bumper. Yes, rear bumber! Everyone thought I was crazy for doing the rear bumber, but if you lived in NYC you wouldn't blame me. People are always kissing your bumpers when parking. My car is four months old and the bumpers are flawless. That 3M film can surely take abuse.
I too had it installed a few days after my car was delivered. Boy it was tense driving for those few days prior to the install. My installer was 50 miles away so it took me 3 hours to get there being that I was driving at like 30 mph on the highway to avoid any chips before I actually got the film on. But the day after a huge pebble hit one of my lights. It didn't penetrate the film but left a permanent mark on the 3M. If not for the film, it would have definitely cracked my headlight.
Anyways, go to an authorized XPEL dealer that cuts the film in their shop by machine to ensure a seamless fit. You can barely see it on my SS.

Can you buy the kit of the www.Xpel.com site and install it yourself?..
Just wondering, since it sounds like a good idea.. plus I dunno if there are any "official" places doing that down here.. But I doubt it..

I have 3M 1 1/2 yrs. the greatist make sure the installer goes around ALL edges.you --I-- most can not install are self. make sure your insaller has done at least 50 or more in stalls and get people he has done to till you of any problems.
LLumar, the tint people have a new clear bra out & it doesn't have the orange peel look that we have w/ 3M but I haven't checked out if it will dispurse the energy of a HIT like the 3M does.

If you don't want the straight line, just get the bumper covered with the protective film.

) and it is MUCH more energy absorbant than 3M, almost hard to cut it with a razorand as far as its finish, hands down the best, nothing else is even close. On black it speaks for itself

If anyone has any questions about paint protection film feel free to drop us a line!
