Raced a MB E55 merging on to I10 yesterday
We went from about 15 MPH to 60MPH. I only saw the E55 badge but if I'm not mistaken, the E55 is the AMG right? The race was a tie all the way to 60MPH???? Doesn't the E55 have 450HP? Someone correct me if I'm wrong here with the E55 only being a AMG.

Either that, or I did a little research, it might have been a 99.
Here's Road and Track's 1/4 mile time on the 04 MB E55 AMG.
"The Benz tripped the lights in just 12.39 seconds at 116 mph--making a sizzling, upper-crust-hot-rod noise the whole way. We've never before experienced such capillary-crushing acceleration in a car so roomy and civilized. For comparison, the last Corvette Z06 we tested ran the quarter in 12.4 seconds at 119 mph. And, of course, the doors to the Vette's back seat are very, very hard to find."

Even if it was a '99-'02 vintage E55 you would've been beaten, just not as badly. They do 0-60 ~ 5.0 and 1/4 mile in the low 13's. Plus, they have a very responsive automatic. I don't think the E55 driver realized that he was in a race. I had an '01 E55 and it would fly. Here's a shot I took during a leisurely drive one afternoon. The speed limiter kept me from ever getting above 159, but it was still pulling hard there. It only had 391 lb/ft of torque. The '04 has 515!

I have an E55 on order... really is kinda difficult to street race that car without losing your drivers license, but then again, in that car there arent too many cars you gotta prove yourself to... including a Z.
