The Fast And The Furious.

There you go. Because a Supra is no better than a 350z but simply made iconic by the movie and it's some how "special" qualities. Also, because of this the price has remained high which doesnt allow stupid *** punk teens or less well-to-do minorities -- please excuse any predetermined racist remarks I'm trying to be as politically correct as possible but there has to be some honest injector into this topic -- to be able to obtain these cars and therefore commit their blaspheming acts upon it. While the 350z has succumb to depreciation. There are plenty of used 2003 Z on autotrader for $7-9K.

It's really that simple. The movie sort of created a cult around the "Supra" and the "Skyline." It has allowed the market to keep a pretty high price with these cars, not allowing for much depreciation. And having a high price is going to prevent any idiot from owning it and therefore "ricing" it.
Wait, really? You didn't know about the Supra or Skyline's "legend" status before those awesome movies? They were awesome before, and they still are. The Z will never have that status, as they were never impressive to begin with.

Obviously, you have no experience with them. If you really paid attention, people care more about the motors. What has the VQ done that impresses the masses?

I personally think the ricer trend is attributed to this new generation. It's said to say but the kids graduating from high school now a days are becoming stupider and stupider and their sense of what's "cool" is becoming more distorted. Apparently cool now is some gaudy body kit, gigantic wing, and atrocious paint job. That being said, kids these days have no real appreciation, and no matter what car they get they'd probably end up ricing it out. Regardless I love my z, I decided years ago that I'd get one on my own, and my 03 350z is my pride which I plan on keeping for as long as possible without ever ricing it, clean and classy is how I like my car.

I was there man. I lived it. I was always inlove with the tuner scene. I rememeber the new Supra (Back in '96) basically having the same perception as a '96 300zx TT. It was really no different in terms of "iconic" status or whatnot. The Skyline - a little higher in perception, but simply because it was a car that was never produced in the US.

Basically after the intial Fast and Furious movie went insane all over the country the "iconic" status of the Supra just skyrocketed. Before hand it was just another fast turbo'd import. Actually around the same msrp price as the 300zx TT, 3000GT v-r4, RX-7, etc.

Supra is really rare as well as NSX, so there is a reason why they are still priced so high. When I had my MR2, I would regularly do oil change at the dealership because of a friend that worked there and I rarely see a Supra Turbo on the showroom floor on my visits to Toyota. I see more MR2 than Supras on the car lot. Someone said our 350z will become 240sx, I believe this will probaly be its fate which isn't bad. To say our Z is like the Civic is just laughable. Have you seen a Civic that is a garage queen? I would say the Mustangs will become Civics because there are so many out there that drives it daily, some of our Zs aren't dailys. I can't wait for my 10 year anniversary with the car, pictures will be uncivilized.

I drive a Civic as a daily

I say give it time. I love my Z and always will. Its just the current fad right now. And if it becomes the next 240sx thats cool to. I see a bunch of S13-S14a done right and turned into works of art. I have had mines for 5 years now and i believe i have tasteful mods done to mine. When those riced out ones die the great ones will become legends!!!

The 350z will never become like the civic, sure you have some of those ****tard high school rich kids who get Zs when they are 16 but they usually rice their **** and crash it, I dont wish that upon anyone but its true. Most of these civics are the same way, these kids put these terrible mods on their cars, dont tune try to race people and dont even know how to drive and crash. Eventually the 350z will become like the 280z, youve see it before, but you dont see them that often and when you do its like being 5 on christmas day.

there are a lot of garage queen civics in Vegas, most of the nicer ones are not daily driven anymore. I think it is more because they get ripped off left and right but.... I also see that more and more 350Z have become garage queens with age, many of the owners have moved on to other daily drivers and keep the Z as a weekend toy.

The main issue is financing... The Z is prolly the most affordable cool car which still can be financed. Other cars like the Supra, RX-7 etc are too old to finance with the basic banks that provide auto loans.. Usually anything older then 10 years requires special high risk financing..

I've owned two 350's. The first one was an 03 I bought for 10K and was is poor condition but I didn't care. It became a maintenance night mare and I sold it. Now I have my PPW 05 base model and couldn't be happier. Stock all but a new Fujitsubo exhaust since the old one was ate up with rust. Car was repainted around 70k miles by the previous owner... reason unknown but it wasn't an accident so I am thinking vandalism or something.

There aren't many Z's in my area at all... I can spot maybe one or two in a months times here and a lot of people will stop and ask me what it is or how I like my Porsche.

I plan on keeping this car for a long time and one day it won't be my daily driver but a garage queen.

Why am I so not surprised that you're from North Carolina?

Yeah too bad Nissan screwed the pooch on the exterior of the 370. Looks horrible parts of the interior are not so great either imo. They tried riding the "retro" wave that the US car makers NEEDED to do
in order to boost sales. There was/is not much wrong with the 350z, Nissan was on the right track on improving and fixing things. Why drop the whole line and create a whole new car? Dumb. 350 sales were good. All the Nismo's pretty much sold out. Nissan was making money, gaining the sports car respect again.

I don't think Nissan sold too many 370's could be the reason why Nissan is now working on a whole new "lesser" Z..

You can find some pretty good 350z deals. There is one 350 in town that is slowly getting riced out..and I hate seeing it.. Is a huge "350z" sticker across the back window rice?? lol.. Very blue headlights rice??
