thinking of trading the z

thinking of trading the z
I have had my z for about 9 months, 6-7 of which it has been my dd... until recently i started driving 80 miles one way to work. I couldn't do that to the z so I bought another car.
A while back a guy at work bought a 69 Camaro, decided he wants a corvette so he is trying to sell it. I told him i would trade him the z (06, 112k miles) also he told me it was the original motor. All it needs is a paint job and the timing adjusted.
So what do you guys think? Good trade? Only trade if it has the 327 or bigger? What are yalls opinions?

Dude, why trade a modern, fuel injected, reliable engine car for an almost 44 year old terrible handling, carburated engine car that needs paint and probably a laundry list of other unforseen things? Unless your 350z is in bad shape, I say NO DEAL.

If you had any thoughts of owning a domestic muscle car before you bought your Z,you should'nt have bought it in the first place.Jeez, you have'nt owned your Z for a year!
You'd be better off in a Camaro or...a maybe a Mustang.
Obviously you don't understand the Z and what its really all about to own one.
Text the guy and get the Camaro...

I love Classic American muscles, but honestly man, a trade involving your 2006 Z for an old Camaro that you'd have to fork over some time/cash is a terrible trade. The only thing I'd trade my Z for is an EVO, or if I were to upgrade to an HR.

Cody, been there done that. When I was 17 (29 years ago) I owned a 1967 Firebird 400, worked to the max, in excellent condition. The Firebird is like the Camaro, only better. I got bored of it by the time I was 20. In contrast, I still own and love my first Z, a '91 300ZX, and just recently added a 350Z to boot. Unless this Camaro was done up by Overhaulin', or your Z is ready for the scrap heap (are you in the 1 quart a month club?) or both, I think you'd be unhappy. Even monetarily it's a terrible deal. By the way, why would you buy a Z and not use it? It's a car. It's a Nissan. Properly taken care of it will last well past 200k miles. You said you couldn't drive it 160 miles a day yet you'll trade it away for a dinosaur? Cody, my '91's got 190k, runs like the day I drove it home and is showing no signs of quitting. Do this trade and you'll be giving up a T-bone for a white castle.

yeah say stuff about the mustangs, how original... meanwhile the value of the z is only depreciating while the value of the camaro will only increase, yes metaboi it does love to use oil. I love my z and i know i will miss it, most likely i will sell the camaro for more than i can sell the z and see about a 370 or a hr z

The only way to keep a normal car from depreciating is by keeping it until it is worthless. In other words, if you never have to sell it, you never had to "lose money" on it. Cars like that camaro are cool to look at but the pain that the owners go through just getting it started to take it to the car show is ridiculous. There's ALWAYS another part to replace. Not to mention their terrible brakes, suspension, etc. But it sounds like you have your mind made up already.

If my Z was my toy and paid off I would consider it, but Im always looking for new toys to work on. Even then for him to not provide cash on his part it would need at least the 327, solid floor pans, decent interior minus seat covers, and a 4sp.
Ive always wanted to do a restomod muscle car though and I just dont make enough to take on that level of a project yet. The Z is a great drivers car out of the box and would be tough to match for the cost of ownership. Sure its still depreciating, but nearly everything is until people start having more disposable income.
Im not really seeing the logic of trusting a 40+ year old car as a daily more than you trust your Z, even if youre in a Rev-Up.
