Default Fuel Mileage?

I know, who cares about fuel mileage with a car like this? Ironically, I never cared about fuel mileage before, but this trip computer makes it so easy to monitor that I did some experimenting and I'm curious to see what others have found.

Over long-term use including all kinds of driving (some of it hard) I was averaging 20-21 MPG. Today I reset it on my way to work, and did easy highway miles -- a couple of minor traffic jams, but no heavy accelerating, and keeping speeds below 80 MPH. Over my trip to and from work (87 miles) I averaged 27.3 MPG. (I did a rough check of the trip computer's accuracy on my last fill-up and it looks right.)

I think this is great mileage for a car like this! Of course, you have to drive it like a granny (well, an 80mph-driving granny ) but it's amazing you can do it at all. (Of course, some of my early fun rides netted 14.5, so YMMV -- literally.)

What kind of mileage have others been getting? Anyone get more than 27? What's your overall average -- around 21? Or is this the most pointless topic and I'm the only one that even gives a crap?

Thanks for the link. Man, it already takes up all my time to keep up with "General", don't tell me there's interesting stuff in other sections, too!

Try doing the same thing with a Isuzu Trooper. at least the Z has a good size tank. I hate getting less than 300 miles for a tank of gas

The funny thing is the way everyone drives, I end up smoking just about every car including sports cars. Most people like to take about 15 sec to get up to 50.

I know what you mean. I only get 13 mpg in my Jeep! It isn't even that wildly modified.

Getting between 20 and 21 highway and city driving. Not sure if the distance till empty readout is correct. Said I only had 14 miles till empty but was only able to put 16 gallons in the tank. It is a 20 gallon tank, right?

Only in California would keeping the speed below 80 be considered "going easy" on a car... lol
