Default next z to get a turbocharged 4 cylinder

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/nissan/...t-nissan-z-car

thoughts? it's a first for the z, a turbocharged 4 cylinder z is being proposed. i can't wait for the concept to come out to see whether it will have the 240 retro style cues more so on this car because that render sucks.

Lame. I would prefer a turbo 6 cylinder.

I feel like the Nissan line at times is taking exterior design clues from Renault & that in my opinion is not a compliment.

I definitely see some Opel Speedster in there. If this car makes production, it should NOT hold the "Z" badge.

Probably be a 2.4l and call it a 240Z. I feel the 350, 370, 390...... pretty much stopped at 370, 400Z? I think not. I think it will be a retro tribute to the 240 with a 2.4l.

Just my .02. I do see the Renault styling ques, and I'm not a fan either.

The thought of it just made me throw up in my mouth a little bit

The 4-cylinder version just means it would not be something you can differentiate from the rest of the pack.
All I do know is if they actually trundle down that road, we will see our present Zs go up in value

Probably will also be competing with the Scion FR-S. After some thought and looking at it a little more that looks like where its headed.

The Z might roll more towards the GTR price with the styling I saw on an Infinity concept....I think it was the "Essence" or something along those lines, saying it is a tribute to the Z heritage and technology.

Maybe a turbo 370? If I really wanted a better mileage, I would get a Leaf.

Honestly if Nissan stopped the Z series at the current 370Z and worked on a 240 project I think it would be pretty sweet. I'm not a big 370 fan as I think the design was rushed and I think Nissan needs another project to work on to clear their heads of rushing another Z design. Let them work on something else for a while then bring back our Z's in a fresh new design like they did in 2003.

I think Nissan can really compete with the FRS/BRZ/Genesis Coupe if they went back to the roots of the 240, added a turbo and a suspension that rivals Toyota and Subaru. Price it from 20K for a base model and go from there.

Considering the Z car has always had a 6 cyl, this is very doubtful.

To meet the federal regulatons regarding fuel economy, the manufacturers are having to downsize all engines. I suspect the turbo 4 cylinders will be in the vast majority of cars within the next few years. I expect the V8 will go away and there will be very few V6 motors around. If yoiu have a long memory, you will recall we went through this downsizing the the 1980's and it really didn't cause too many problems.

^The CAFE law is based on a manufacturers whole fleet. It's the average mpg for all the cars combined. As long as they keep the leaf and juke they're good.. They will still have to make improvements in mpg's though..

And the Z was still a 6 cyl car during the earlier fuel crisis.

i have my doubts as well, this if it were true, would also mean that the infiniti g series would get a 4 cylinder in their line up given the tradition of the z and skyline. but the article did mention a 6 cylinder in limited numbers.

If it makes big power easily like the SR20DET or 4B11T I'm all for it.
