Default grounding wires = low RPMs?

Hey, I installed grounding wires on my car a while back, and ever since, my car idles usually at 3-400 compared to i believe 800? well i read something about grounding wires making your car's idle a bit lower, but i was wondering if this was actually so. If this is not, is there some way i can reset something to make my idle normal. please help. thanks

Mine didnt drop. I think around 700. The idle is smoother now plus the throttle response is better too.

Default idle

The idle speed is controlled by the computer. I don't see how grounding wires could lower it.

Mine dropped from ~800 to ~400 upon installing the grounding kit.

Just to be clear, are you saying that your Z now idles at 400 rpm?

Yes, that right. Without any accessories on of course. Lights, AC etc will bring it up.

EDIT: just had to make a run to the shops. Idle sits dead centre between 0 and 1k so it's actually 500 not 400.

My guess is that the ECU looks at the signals that it is getting and determines what RPM it needs to idle. If it is getting a "cleaner" signal since you installed the grounding kit, it may be that the current idle speed is all that is needed. Does it idle rough?

It's not only lower with the kit but smoother as well.

There is an ECU reset procedure in the Factory Service Manual. You should do a search here. I know it's been posted quite a few times. It will require the use of a stopwatch. I have the FSM, but really don't have time to look it up. If you can't find the procedure on this forum you can look in the FSM.

You can download the ECM portion of the factory service manual
