Ventilated Seat opinions?

Ventilated Seat opinions?
It's very quickly nearing d-day if I'm going to order a Roadster for May/June delivery. I've seen the burnt orange/black ventilated seats (different, and seemingly rare in Canada) and read the reviews of the bottom being warm virtually all the time. Being that it's the dead of winter and -20C here, tracking down a Roadster with said seats and trying them out in shorts and thin shirt isn't going to happen, so I post the following to anyone who owns this combo.
Do the "mesh" inserts feel like you're sitting in a sling or a hammock? I mean both in support and more importantly in the ability to feel the weave through thin clothing? That effect would make me crazy in no time, meaning going with straight leather and no two-tone interior.
Opinions either way and first hand experience would be most appreciated!

i have those hehe..and i m in vancouver, very rare.
well it's your only choice actually if you decide to have orange leather. full orange leather isnt an option in canada for roadster. first i liked the full orange better but then ventilated are really warm and supportive, plus its more JDM. go for them unless you want the ordinary black seat that eveyone has!

Ya, my thoughts exactly. There's no Silverstone/orange/black combo showing up in stock at about 10 dealers around me, but there is black (exterior) with the orange/black and Silverstone with just black. The vented seats sound fairly 'exclusive' so far.
I just read another message about the vented seats only heating the bottoms and not the backs (for obvious reasons!) but another good point came up about the possibility of the mesh getting snagged on clothing, sharp objects or whatever where leather might be less prone to damage under similar circumstances. Have you noticed a tendancy for things to catch the weave at all, or is it holding pretty tight?
Sure wish there was Daytona blue with black leather in the Roadster!

I have similar questions that I hope some of you with these seats can answer. None of the dealers in Hawaii have these right now, and the salesmen I spoke with didn't even know they existed.
Is the mesh rough? Someone mentioned that but I couldn't imagine them being made of rough fibers, like manila rope. Perhaps the person was just describing how a net feels?
Can you feel the texture of the mesh? Someone who saw a roadster with these seats at a car show said they thought it felt like sitting on plastic grating. Here in Hawaii, we often just wear shorts and tank tops or T shirts.
Is the headrest high enough (I'm 5' 10") and does it touch the back of your head (to minimize the chance of whiplash)?
Thanks for your help!

Just got my roadster and got the orange seats. They do feel rough but they are very comfortable. And driving with the top down, this REALLY WORKS. The back park of the mesh is see through, so basically you are leaning on a mesh. I think its very cool, i never seen this in other cars... so get it, and if it rips ur shirt, so what? U GOT ORANGE SEATS!

ws350, are you in honolulu? i cannot believe that the salesperson didnt know that they existed. one of our club members has 3 350z's, 1 coupe and 2 roadsters. both roadsters have the mesh seats. he bought one from king and one from new city.
like zeddyroadster said, my friend said that you just gotta be careful because your clothing can get caught in the seats pretty easily.

ragtopz, yes, I'm in Honolulu. I couldn't believe that the salesperson didn't know either. It made me think that the option wasn't available here.
Thanks to everyone else too for their feedback! Just gotta decide which body color goes best with the seats!

LemanZ, thanks for the link. I think that's the site we were looking at, but we'd like to make the final decision after looking at the real thing. Thinking of Silverstone or Lemans Sunset, and kind of leaning towards the Lemans at this point.

Yes, when I bought my Zed, I was choose between white and Leman sunset, but I find the LS is more rare and special. And it is the original color for the Z-concept (see PS2 GT3) Hope to see your new post with your new Z photo soon!!

they are a hastle to look up too...
i looked it up once and boy was it a headache...
they do not come as full seat assemblies... you have to order each and every individual part for the seat...
each seat has over 20 parts to it that needs to be ordered...

Thanks to the generous help of ragtopz and one of his friends, my wife and I got to compare the ventilated seats and the regular leather seats today. I really like the idea of the ventilated seats and thought that today's comparison would just confirm that they would work for me.
The regular leather seats supported my back pretty well and the headrest was pretty close to the back of my head.
The ventilated seat just wasn't as comfortable for me, even after adjusting the seat. It felt like the top of the mesh section was pushing my shoulders forward, as if someone had placed a rolled up towel behind me right below my shoulders. The headrest also felt farther away, as you might expect. I didn't think the mesh section felt rough though. It reminded me of the mesh material used for scuba diver's gear bags, except that the material was a little thicker and a little softer.
I'm about 5'10" and my wife is about 5'3". She thought that they both were fine.
I'm pretty disappointed, but am really glad we got to try them.
