My car is currently being done from the ground up, the interior was all stripped out yesteday. Almost every inch of the trunk has been dynamatted. What area's of the stock stereo are u looking to upgrade and most importantly what is the price range? These things can get pretty pricey for example I went with the Focal Utopia 3-way setup, if i had to pay the full retail price on these ($1400-1700) I dont think i would have been able to afford them.

Everyone has their own preferences and budgets. Your best bet is to go to a local car audio shop (or two) and listen for yourself. Just stay with the major manufacturers. A good salesman won't steer you wrong.

funny i tend to steer towards the lesser known audiophile brands. Only major brands I have is the kenwood HU and JL subs.

yes, I do as well, but from within the scope of this thread, I would say to stay with the major brands. As an audiophile, I would recommend the lesser known brands.

Myself, I have
Alpine 7995
MB Quart PCE 216 fronts
MB Quart DKE 116 rears
Alpine 450 amp
2 x 12W3
JL 500/1

not bad...i like that HU..but i already have a kenwood sirius receiver so i went with an 979 unit. Are rear's even worth doing in these cars since its so small. I went with Focal Utopia 3-ways up front. The woofers and tweeters in kick panels. Zapco 360 and a Zapco 1000 with symbilinks, and a 12" W7 for the sub. Plus a few other misc items.

rears are definetly not going to have the same influence as the fronts do (that's why I went with the lower end series), but do help some. From the driver's side, I really hear the passenger rear speaker and I'm sure visa versa. I could be argued that the seats block the rears, but I don't have the passenger seat cranked all the way back for two reasons: doesn't block the speaker and gives me a bit more vision through the tiny rear/side window. By having the seat cranked all the way back it will block the speaker and line of sight to the bity window. (And yes, I do have my side mirrors facing outward, away from the car).

Do any of these few other items include caps? I've thought about getting 1 farat, but haven't noticed any significant power drain in my lights or voltmeter.

I used to consider myself an audiophile

With my Z as a daily driver, I would never sink so much into it. At least not on this car. Will when I finally get my Carrera

I assume you'll be posting pics when done!

i havent had the use of a trunk in a car since 98 so i got used to it by now. Hell its not like the Z had much storage space to begin with.

See Sig. I'm very much an audiophile, and this setup was perfect for me.
