Default Thinking about trading in my Z how much should I expect?

Okay it time I get rid of my 2 seater and buy a truck. How much should I expect for a trade in. I have a 04 performance Z. 66.5k I have every record for it down to original window sticker. New clutch 2500 miles ago have receipt tint and in dash. No accidents Ect mint condition I rarely drive it.

Just wondering what you guy think I would get for it or even your experience with a trade in. Thanks. Oh also it's a 6 speed

Trade-in value at a dealer is probably $6-7K if you're buying something that costs $20K and up.

Privately- no more than $15k

I looked at prices near me for a 04 and it was around $14-16k. But remember that's what a dealer is selling for and people would rather buy from a dealer than private
Dealer- no more than $7k

Where do you guys live? Where I am, a car like ericohama's would easily trade in for 9 or 10k and sell for about 15 or 16k.
I guess it depends on your area and how sought after the cars are there.

This has been asked countless times. The value depends on your area. Do some research, you lazy schmuck.

Don't trade it, sell it privately. But don't expect more than around $11k if I had to guess. It is 9 years old and the later 350's had quite a few upgrades performance wise. At least it is spring when more folks are shopping for a sports car....

Amen to that! I'm not saying I never ask dumb questions, but come on. I get tired of seeing threads like this on the site.

Try looking at Kelly Blue Book, edmunds, and NADA. They are a great resource.

Haha I suppose I could've been a bit more constructive with my reply. I just hate seeing questions on here that can be answered with a simple internet search...that's not what this site is for. Wasn't hating on this OP specifically.

To OP, I would listen to NinerZ's reply. Check out KBB and just search around to see what other Z's are going for in your area. Worth or book value (whatever you want to call it) heavily depends on location, especially when talking about Z's. I would also highly recommend trying to sell it yourself. I only use trade-in as a last resort. Good luck.

I would never trade a vehicle into the dealer towards a new car unless I really needed the vehicle at tha veryt moment and didn't have the time or means to sell it privately. More often than not you're getting screwed by the dealership

Give you an idea , I got $9700 for my 05 base with 70k on it about 1.5 years ago. If I could have sold it I would have , but 2 Z's and a kid on the way. The car had to go.

Sell privately if you have the time.

You guys are right I'm waiting to sell privately. Yeah at a dealer it would sell for around 15k here too. I'm gonna sell privately then buy a new truck. And hopefully next year buy a 370 )). But why is it the Z will lose its value so fast? Is the 370 on the same path?

Sports cars in general tend to lose value fairly quickly. This is true of the Corvette, Mustang, Camaro even more refined cars like the M3 tank on resale. People are always concerned about how it may have been abused and they are so heavily produced there's always someone needing to sell now at a greater loss.
I've seen E46 M3s for under 20k in great shape and the cost way more than our Z did new. It's not the best but I think the Z does a good job of holding it's value.
