This isn't a ticket for 2 mph over. That would be worth fighting. This is a gross violation for which the OP is proud and looking for a loophole.

It's sad.

Just pay it and stop being a cheapskate. You knew what the law was and you chose to broke it. You got caught, pay up.

The reason why i cant fork over 240 (im sure some can relate) im a young college student and all my paychecks go to bills and gas. I dont smoke or waste my money on stupid ****. I just have the priorities that need to be taken care of or im out in the streets with just my two own feet and no one to help. I got my Z as a gift but the conditions were to pay the loan. I dont have much and the Z is all i got and its how i go to work and take my girlfriend to work cause her family is not very privliged. I understand i need to man up and go to court. Im not going to run. Yes i understand the cop was giving me a break but its hard for a young guy with not much in his pocket.

Yeah man we get that, but you dont come on here asking for help and brag about how you were speeding. After my last two speeding tickets, i havent got one since, wanna know why? because i learned to slow the hell down and be on time to places when i needed to be. Of course i have my fun every now and than, but most of that is on the track. Some more words of wisdom from my pops, "you can end your life in five mins trying to get somewhere five mins earlier."

You should have thought of that before you got heavy-footed. All our actions have consequences, and sometimes it's difficult to live with the consequences.

If it's too much, sell your car and get a '95 Civic. I'm sure that would be much better for a "young guy with not much in his pocket."

They have a solution for that.

I had a 2003 350z when I was in college just like you. I got 4 speeding tickets in a span of two years in San Diego County and got my license suspended twice. I didn't appear in court multiple times and frankly I just wished it all would go away. It didn't. I graduated, got a great paying job, and there they were... knocking on my door waiting to garnish my new pretty paycheck. Thousands of dollars later, I'm a much calmer driver now. I own an HR this time and am much more mature.

Understand a few things - both San Diego county and CHP pay their officers to go to court. They have cracked down on any plea deals directly with officers outside of court if you decide to lawyer up (which I know you won't). You have several options:
  1. Pay the ticket in full immediately.
  2. Go to court and plead not guilty. They will still require full payment up front, and they will schedule a court date. On your court date, if you LOSE, you will pay extra court fees. If you WIN, they will refund your ticket payment, and no extra fees assessed.
  3. Go to court and plead guilty. I did this. My judge gave out payment plans to everyone who pleaded guilty. It will be $50-$100 monthly until your dues are paid off.
  4. Ignore. I did this too. They will double your ticket amount and assign a warrant for your arrest. Your license will be suspended and your failure to appear will show up on your records when trying to apply for car insurance (which hikes up fees for you). Further ignoring will result in wage garnishment by the Franchise Tax Board.

Bottom line - If you want to play the game, do it legally. I would *recommend* option #3 due to your circumstances (ie... dont have much money). I think losing money will really help you in the long run... teaches you a lesson (like it did for me). If not, then go ahead with option #2 and take your chances (ie Postpone your court date a million times and pray the officer doesn't show up....but if that officer shows up, pepper your angus son). Also, remember that they will require money up front if you decide to go to court - So... if your issue really is about money, you are f--ked with all options except for #3

lol it's okay... Let him learn. If he doesn't kill himself speeding, or go to prison for killing someone else, they'll hit his wallet (hard). It's only a matter of time. If he somehow slips past the law due to the officer not showing up, then he'll continue to drive recklessly and will be pulled over again.

The solution is to not get tickets you can't afford, by not breaking the laws. If you ahve more time than money, fight it. If not don't. I get a speeding ticket every 3-4 years or so. Not proud of that but not hanging my head in shame either and I simply pay it. Cripes, some of you are merciless. BTW, at my age, there is little ANY of you can do or say to shame me, lol.

I will, however, agree that some tickets are about revenue (2MPH over the limit is an example).
I said it was asinine - guess I missed typing the "usual" as far as speeding tickets and revenue. I'm guessing none of you folks have been to ZDayZ, correct?

Speeding in the z, i have found, is much more obvious than speeding in a 97 accord. As a 22 year old cali girl, I figured i could get out of a ticket.... wrong. turns out 76 in a 15 is a pretty big bummer...

I wouldn't call it drama, I would just call it "constructive anti-douche-ism"

Grow thick skin or prepare to not use this site. There is TONS of useful info here, just have to weed out the bs, and actually search.
