Default How durable is 350z stock?

I have been searching around for an affordable 350z at $10k,

For $10k, if I get a 350z above 100k miles. Assume that I dont race, and regular

maintenances. How long is it going to last? how many miles?

Depends on it's history. Your guess is as good as mine unless you know that it wasn't beat and properly maintained. A lot of damage, neglect and abuse can happen in 100K miles. Try to find a private sale, 1 owner car and learn everything you can about them and how they took care of the car.

All depends on maintenance, my daughter's Dodge Grand Caravan runs strong at 235,xxx **** you not. But I do oil changes every 3k.
You can look at the mods and records to see how the previous owner took care of it. Try to understand how they drove it.
Take a friend with you, and drive at least 3 or 4 to get a feel.
Good Luck.

I see people start to sell luxury cars like 350z around 100k miles, is it because at this mile more

and more thing break down? so they dont have to pay lot of money to fix?

Pretty sure you can find a 350z for about 10k with less than 100miles on it. Keep looking man. After the scions came out... pre 2008 350zs have dropped in price by a **** ton.

For 10K you're looking at a 2003 with higher miles. A lot of whats out there in that price range is either not stock or beat to ****. I would spend a little more and get something with lower miles. My 2004.5 Z has 51,000 miles but the owners before me stored it in winter, and so have I.

The z can have relatively no issues until 200K it really depends on how it was driven. I also would not buy one with a salvage or rebuilt title..

Bought my 03 with 134,000 miles for $9,300. Completely stock 6mt touring with one owner. Nissan tech friend of mine said it looks and feels brand new engine wise. It's all about maintenance.

Price also depends on where you live. Trashed 03 base models go for over 7k around me. Nice clean ones, even 03's are 9k+

There's also a recent thread about what repairs people have had to do. Minus 1 of them, not much has to be done at all.

Like most have stated, it depends on the treatment of the vehicle prior to your ownership of it. Most of the DD vehicles we get in have well over 150K and running strong. The highest mileage I've seen so far on a VQ that has been tracked and street driven has been 280K.

Now don't get me wrong there are some sour apples in the bunch. The bouncing off the rev limiter and oil consumption cars are the worst. O yeah and the Ebay guy that will buy Godspeed this and Blox that and beat on the car with no tune like there is no tomorrow(boom waiting to happen).

Try to find an older man or lady that has one and go from there.

If the car was taken care of and well maintained, the VQ motor can last upwards to 200-300k. Keep in mind the regular maintenance needed on a vehicle with that high of mileage, but the car should still run strong if maintained properly.

I can't remember the name of the guy that designed the Vq33, but i do remeber reading that the engine was designed with regular maintainence to cover at least 200,000 miles. Bear in mind though that a lot depends on how the car was driven, just how regular the maintainence schedule was and how thorough. There are guys on this site that have covered this sort of distance pretty much problem free, regular consumables and the odd spare part aside, if the service schedule is regular you should be OK. Also you need to take into consideration whether at any point in the motor's life whether it was fitted with turbo's or supercharger which obviously put extra strain on not only the motor but the drivetrain also. Thats why you see a lot of ads on this site in the marketplace where guys are selling superchargers and turbo kits to return their car to stock in order to sell.

If you're patient, you'll find a better deal than 10k/100k.

I found my 2005 with 63,000 for 10k.

Either way, properly maintained, these things will go for 200k miles at least. I see a lot of g35s (mostly sedans) with well over 200k miles.

I think you ask a good question and I would like to respond. I have 90k on my 2003, and have spent very little $$ over the last 11 years for repairs. Mine is a DD and we had >50 days below zero this year.

In fact I’m confident enough in the car’s longevity that I plan adding some aftermarket upgrades. That’s the best thing about hitting 100k: You can justify replacing stock parts that are finally beginning to wear.

Find a stock one as you have no idea who has done any mods or how well they were installed. You do know a Nissan Tech or dealer likely didn't install the aftermarket stuff.

You can easily find a nice Z for less than 10k with far less than 100k miles...I've seen many on craigslist with clean titles as long as you can afford to wait for the right one.

The one thing I will say is that just past 100k there IS some maintenance that can hit that is expensive. I looked at a Z with just over 100k and the seller actually had to sink almost two grand into the car to get it fixed. I'd have to do dig through my email to look at the list of things that needed attention, but they're listed in the maintenance schedule for a 350z.

Just food for thought to help you out, but I'd really encourage you to wait for the right Z, like one of the replies below said...you can find an 05 with under 100k, and I've personally even seen one 06 for 10k that was a clean title and decent mileage.

Really reliable cars though, I know a number of Z owners, we all have the same story..love the car and they just keep working.
