If the 350Z was made by Toyota
And had Toyota quality for $30,000 for a base model, would you buy it? Or would you just keep your current Z with it's little quirks no matter how trivial they may be...

I don't know what you quantify as "Toyota Quality" but I've owned 3 toyota's and two were total crap. I had a Tacoma that ran and rattled so poorly that I sold it in a year. I had a Corolla that was a dream come true for the Toyota parts department. My brother had a Toyota bought back under the lemon law.
I'll take a Nissan any day.
If Toyota did make the Z it would weigh 500lbs more, Cost $10,000 more, make 50hp less, but the block would be able to handle 1,000hp.

Odd. I had a 98 Tacoma which never had one single problem ever. It ran absolutely perfectly despite the serious off-roading we did and the general beating it took. I loved that truck. My car prior to that was a 1986 Camry, which also ran absolutely perfectly. Eighty thousand miles when I sold it, and not a single problem.
I don't mean to downplay the problems you experienced. I'm just showing that all vehicle manufacturers occasionally have bad luck and put out a lemon. I'm sure there are plenty of people here who could go on for days about how awful Nissans are.
Overall, I'd say Toyota has been a fantastic car manufacturer in the past and still is today. I've also found Honda to be absolutely brilliant. I can't comment on Nissan's past, though, as this is my first Nissan.

Guys, I think this is the same guy who said he was "scared" about buying a Z because of its problems. He pissed several people off, and everyone flamed him for being a puss. So now he's trolling. :P

I don't think Toyota quality is too far off vs. Nissan. Both make pretty good cars quality wise. There are always going to be lemons, problems etc., it's a machine with thousands of components-it's inevitable. Compare Toyota & Nissan to the big three however, and then the quality becomes more evident IMO.

this is a troll thread.
I will still put in my $.02
I doubt many people would deny Toyota's build quality, but I think they are overpriced based on a reputation they built in the 80s and 90s. They were and are excellent automobiles, but Nissan and Honda are just as good.
Any of the Japanese three will go for hundreds of thousands of miles (very few owners want this anyhow) if taken care of properly.
The only difference between the Nissan Z and a "Toyota Z" might be that Toyota would wait another year to release.

Nissan historically has been on the cutting edge of design vs Toyota that copies others. Examples, the mini truck, 4 door mini truck, 240Z, and now, the 350Z.
I get a little frustrated when I read magazines mention the Toyota built quaility of their new product when they do not know the reliability of a new model, how could anyone, it is new.

Toyota doesnt make any true sport cars anymore. Every car has its problems in its first year of production. I had a 2000 Celica same thing problmem in the first year. Still loved the car as I do the Z.

My mothers first Camry had a leaky back window. Bad seal from the factory. Took 3 visits to fix.
The Camry one had a shimmy at highway speeds that took 2 visits to fix.
Toyota does make good cars, but they are not really perfect like Honda fanatics would have you believe.
(And don't get me started on the DANGEROUSLY under powered early CRVs!)
