Saleen 350z
So anyway...
My dad recently sold his nissan store. But before he sold it, he showed me a letter written to him that was also sent to alot of other nissan dealerships. It seems to be that ole Steve Saleen wants to work on a z. It was proposed to be a $10,000 option to the track model!!!!! I have mixed emotions about this. I mean Steve Saleen is a cool guy, and his new S7 is pimp along w/ all the mustangs. But a z? I didnt knw he thought Z's were American cars cuz arent I right when I call him a domestic tuner? Anyway, I also wanna know what he can do to a z to add 10 grand to the sticker. Supercharger? I dont think saleen will use a turbo. I dont even know if a Saleen Z will ever be produced. But Saleen sure as hell did send a proposal to the dealership, I **** you not. Ide rather have a turbo kit.

Second of all, since the only thing the dealers have gotten is a proposal. You don't know if NNA has declinded already. Sure, Saleen can just buy cars and sell them themselves but it won't be backed by Nissan.

Who cares whether he tunes Mustang's, Z's, or Yugo's? Any kind of aftermarket tuning is good for our cars. Even if you have no interest in a Saleen Z, it will inspire others to produce more Z goodies and we may even get the kind of aftermarket support that the Mustang gets now. I could easily see Nissan turn their nose up on this one but I think it would be a cool partnership.

"Saleen" huh? This picture has been around for a while, and apparently, its C-west's early model.
Either way i doubt its Saleen...
Saleen is all about American Muscle...he wouldnt turn his back on stang fans.
that pic is not saleen.

I would not be surprised if Saleen tried to diversify his offerings. American muscle may be were he got his start and where his bread and butter is right now, but Import tuning is the hot thing right now (and has been for a while). He already started diversifying with the S7. I think he and others, like Callaway, would be smart to try and get in the market with a car like the Z. In addition, these are tuners with good reputations that would help bring more interest to the cars, like JDZ mentioned.
The drawing in Mythral's sig is definitely the C-West sketch from their website that been floating around and discussed for many, many months. I don't think it is intended to be represented as a drawing of the Saleen Z.
