No TPMS on 2008 touring?
Hey guys
When I scroll thru my onboard screen (where temp, mpg and other things are shown) I dont see Tire pressure reading screen, I had 2003 before and it was there but on this one that screen never cycles in...did something change on 2008 models that it only displays if tire is low?
Cheers

Yeah, Nissan thought it'd be a great idea to get rid of that great feature after '07.
I have one that is broken, get a good gauge and check your pressure often and you'll be fine.

NO, it has NOT gone away. Z'matter of fact, TPMS is MANDATORY on ALL light duty vehicles by federal statute on all such vehicles produced and sold in the U.S. after Sept. 1, 2007 (essentially model year 2008) and adoption of similar statutory regs in other parts of the world occurred a few years later.
What TYPE of TPMS - Indirect (or iTPMS) or Direct (dTPMS) is not specified in said statute. And that's *probably* the reason the "individual read" tire pressure feature in the info screen is disappearing.
Z33s, at least up to the date of the mandate (2007) used direct/dTPMS with individual sensors in each wheel. This made it simple for each sensor to connect and talk to the control unit via the fiber backbone.
However, problems arise with this type..... non-exchangeable batteries, inaccurate readings, eco-waste, etc.
Nowadays, and going forward, more and more mfgrs are moving to iTPMS or indirect monitoring as the standard and it ARGUABLY, becomes more convoluted as to exactly WHICH tire is 25% low. But that's a good thing because then it forces the owner/service person to check ALL FOUR tires when signaled by the indicator/idiot light on the dash.
It may seem counterintuitive to go to the indirect system, which uses a high number of input parameters, e.g., wheel speed, wheel oscillation, and a whole bunch of cool, but not layman friendly methodologies of the above to determine pressure and deviations. Spectrum analysis.... I'm betting very few people here understand it so I won't get into it. Heh heh.....
But it is the future and idiot lights have made a heroic return!!
Please note the sarcastic note in that last sentence.

Mic - I think OP was talking about the readout you get on the little carputer (1st pod above the cubby). Older models would show air pressure info. Later models dropped that feature. We all know that TPMS is mandated because of all those idiots driving on Firestones back in the 1990s who wouldn't check their air pressure more often than once in a lifetime.
