Just curious as to thoughts and precaution on dding my Z throughout the winter.
Mainly looking for advice on if there's any particular cleaning products anyone would recommend due to heavy amounts of liquid salt used on roads around me, and how many times a week I should be washing it once or twice at least, maybe three?

thanks to the two smart asses for the useless responses if i had found anything that would help I wouldn't be here on this thread, I read countless of the other winter threads and I didn't see a mention of any cleaning/detailing procedures due to road chemicals. I guess if you read more than the title that might have been clear...can you ask anything on this site and actually get an answer aside from being told to google it.

If your car is a daily driver and your going to drive all winter its going to get ****ed up and rusty in certain spots regardless of how much you wash it.

I would say a good rule of thumb would be wash it every time the roads are wet and you drive on them... Basically gotta wash the undercarriage...

Wow! Guys I must say these are the worst replies to a good question I’ve seen on my350z.com.

Basically Mw870 is saying he wants to drive his 350z year around; and he is asking if anyone does this, and if so what maintenance procedures he should follow. Do I have this right?

If so, the replies he is receiving are mainly saying that he should not drive his 350z in the winter? Do I have that right?

 

yes and no.... hes in canada.... he should be used to driving in snow... he should already know how to properly maintain his car during winter driving. its not that hard. wash after ever drive to prevent rusting. chances are thats too much for him to do if he cant even research the proper way to take care of his winter ride.

 

I also had questions about winter driving when I purchased my 350z in 2003. I had the same questions that Mw870 asks in his thread.

I’m in Minnesota where there is lots of ice and snow during the winter months, and consequently, an abundance of salt and chemicals applied to the roadways. My Redline 350z appears to be white during the winter months.

I have been driving my 2003 350z for 13 years in this adverse climate, and I have never had any rust due to salt or road chemicals applied by the DOT.

Rust-prevention requires doing some common sense measures, and the 350z resists rusting. I am careful to clean the undercarriage every 10 to 14 days, and that seems to be all it takes to keep this exceptional car from rusting.

I'd say no but honestly it depends on the tires you have and if you don't mind getting your car salted and iced on consistently. I can't really think of any cleaning products that would save you from the winter treatment. Get some blizzacks or something if you need to DD your z.
