Default Best year models

Hello, a newbie to the car scene. I am currently looking for a 350z and am highly considering a 2006 model. What is the best model years for stock and to modify? I want to learn how to work on a car myself and be able to modify and make my car stronger. ANY buying tips as well? Thanks looking for experienced owners to tell me there opinions

There is no "bad" year to avoid. Look for a car with lower mileage, and try to discern if the owner has driven the car conservatively and performed the required maintenance.

What he said. I assume your not looking for a z because it's fast, light, or the interior. But because it's lines are saxy as hell. There are no models to avoid (just automatics imo) but there are certain ones that would fit with certain points of use. i.e. track beast start with a base, going FI get a de, most HP with simple bolt ons get an hr, just a cruiser get a touring. Buying tips same as above try to find someone who has proof of servicing the car and thats taken care of it. And don't rush, shop and learn the market. I've always wanted a z but I had a 240 that I had a love affair with since I started driving. Drove the **** out of it and it ran to 265k before I sold it. I saved for a z for a year and shopped and looked at cars for 8 months before I bought mine about a month back. It was an 03 touring black/burnt mt with 55k miles from the original owner for 8200. I couldn't be happier. Always garaged. Has all the options and the under carriage & engine bay look immaculate. I laugh when people ask me if its a brand new car. Just be smart and make good decisions. Read the top 100 questions and lurk this site. There is a plethora of knowledge here.

Getting an 06 six speed is the best for modifying and going boosted. Lower mileage and maintenance records are key.

BUT if you REALLY want to learn how to work on cars get a 300ZX
