Question 04 350Z Track

After three months of debating I finally ordered my Silvertone 04 350Z Track w/ Nav. and side air bags. I believe I got a great deal. I was told by the dealer @ Lynnes Nissan in Bloomfield NJ that what I wanted was no where to be found within the NYC & NJ area. I told them that was fine and that I wanted it built, they said ok see you in 10 to 12 weeks. Actually, I wanted it built so that some of the problems would hopefully be fixed.

Can anyone tell me if I'm just going to be disappointed. Has Nissan rectifyed some of the problems they were having in 03 with toe & tire wear problems, and interior noises with the 04. Any information on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Many of the problems have been fixed... suspension/tire feathering, grease on window, cloth seat wear, etc. The one thing you might like to know is... Nissan isn't currently producing Track trims. Mine will be the first Track built in 2004 and it will not go into production until the end of March. Only custom orders are being built now and inventory orders will not be built until this summer... and only a limited amount because the 2005s go into production on August 2nd. So... I'm just saying 12 weeks might be optimistic... you're probably looking at the end of May, beginning of June.

I just called the dealer and I stand corrected. He stated that the next order date was not until 3/1/04. So basically my order is just sitting on someone's desk until March 1 when it's offically ordered.

The dealer also stated that he could not comment on production dates because he was unaware of plant changes and production modifications. (Posted: 350Z & Murano to share same platform. 350Z production to be moved to new plant) Anyway; I offically now join the waiting game.....

P.S. Can anyone answer these 2 questions;
How long does it take to actually build the 350Z Track?
How long does it take on a slow boat from Japan to the U.S.? The car's actual destination is N.J..

'04 SS Track ordered the 1st week of September 2003, built in October and delivered to a SoCal dealership on November 19th. Tack on another 2-3 weeks for east coast delivery.

Flagship

I also went to Lynnes in Bloomfield back in September and they told me the same thing about not being able to find my 04 Silverstone Roadster (Fully loaded) anywhere in Tri-state area. I went to Hilltop Nissan in East Hanover the next day and they were able to locate my car in Georgia and they even ate the cost to have it flat bedded up to Jersey.

I've used Lynnes for years and this was the first time I got a run around for ordering a car.

rjpaterson;

That's interesting! To be honest with you I did not want to take receipt of the vehicle just yet. They were willing to do a vehicle search for the car but I adamantly opposed to searching for the vehicle. I purposely wanted the car built; because I figured that the complaints were to voluminous for Nissan to just ignore. I was hoping that some of the issues would be rectified and they have been.

After reading posts that were listed not only on this site but others; I decided to just order it. The other factor that came into play was the weather. I live in NYC it's just out right shitty now. Taking possession of such a beautiful ride in this weather; why! I'm not paying on something that I can't drive now. (I know sooner or later it will sit & yes I will be paying but not now)

Also I don't know if you have been following the forums but Nissan has now shifted production of the 350Z to the same plant where they make the G35 Coupe. So in this sense I guess patience will have to prevail. The order will be placed on March 1. I should have the vehicle around mid May.

Thanks for the heads up.. Enjoy your ride...........
