Blown Up??
Hey. I have a DE with 129k. 6 speed.
I was out beating on the car and found out the hard way that the fans never kicked on..
Facts:
-No codes
-Compression Test Results (Engine ran for a minute tops, WOT)
Cylinder 1: 120
Cylinder 2: 105
Cylinder 3: 115
Cylinder 4: 115
Cylinder 5: 105
Cylinder 6: 120
-No coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant
Overheated, boiled coolant out of the overflow tank, and felt like i was driving with the brakes on after that (very sluggish and had resistance). Also very difficult to start after the occurrence.
-Rolls perfectly fine in neutral and had plenty of oil.
I'm going to go ahead and compression test it and go through the basics to determine the issue. I'm new to VQ's so just wanted to check and see if any of you have experienced something similar with yours. Thanks.

Yeah, new upper oil pan and new radiator. I jacked the car up to probably a 25 degree angle to bleed air out of the system. Didn't seem to be leaking anywhere except the overflow reservoir itself. Oil was topped off as well. No leaks anywhere. Should be noted that I had to take off the upper oil pan twice. The first time I replaced it, one of the half moon seals against the transmission wasn't seated properly and leaked into the trans bell housing. Maybe a quart went in there and drained out of the 'hole' at the bottom where you'd pry the pan off the block.

Surprised you didn't notice the water temp gauge was being pegged while you were out "beating on the car". Also, did any CELs show up? And have you scanned for any codes?
Given that this motor has 140k, i've already accepted picking up a new imported motor this week. Start fresh with 40k miles and take my time getting this motor rebuilt right.
I'll report back later today.

Not on a VQ. Sooooooooooo excited to pull the motor. I'm ambivalent about the whole thing because it's not my daily, but I love it way more than my BRZ.

Just getting to the shop now. Maybe it’s nothing after all

Normal on these cars is 140...right?
The passenger side valve cover has oil on it around the spark plug tubes. Though the tubes appear to be clean inside and can't find where the oil is coming from.

No oil in the coolant, no coolant in the oil. Oil looks cloudy, but no coolant separation.
Hmmmmmmmm
