Default Salvage Nismo 350z

After

Before
I am looking to buy a nismo 350z and I saw one online for about 11k but it is a salvage title and it was he rear end but it didn’t look too bad. It was all rebuilt and fixed (I assume because there is a new bumper). It is silver and only has like 70k miles. Is it worth it?

Throw away.

The only reason you buy a nismo is for the hope to keep it flawless and to resell it when it becomes a classic and make a good investment. Some guys get suckered into buying the nismo like other guys get suckered into buying a ZR1 or ZO6 just to drive to the office and back home.

The salavage title guarantees that will never be worth anything. The only thing that car will be good for is part out. Salvage cars are only good for a few things. Parts, a daily beater for cheap you plan to drive until it dies. Or a track car you don’t mind crashing or beating till it dies.

I would plan to just drive it as a daily and all that and keep it for a long time but I would probably just trade in or sell my current car (2010 mustang v6 lol. It’s just not for me). And the value for it is about the same as what this nismo would cost.

Caveat emptor.

Check with your insurance company to see if they will even insure it. And, if they do, at what price.... not unusual to charge higher for such a car and/or provide lower coverages, especially on comp and collision.

Or if it’s like mine they have no issue insuring it for normal pricing.

But if you get in any type of accident they cover 0 of it. Liability is all they would offer on it.

I would buy this car if I have all of the following:

1. I am mechanically inclined and will be able to repair most issues this may have
2. This is not my only source of transportation
3. I have about $5k dedicated to fund any possible repairs

This is really just the financial adviser in me talking, but even 20 year old me would stay away from a salvage title for I would not have been able to meet the requirements above.

From the looks it was already quick fixed. The bottom I’m assuming we’re the original previous condision.

the car fax and everything says it was just a cosmetic rear, fenders, a wheel. No frame damage or anything reported and it was all fixed

Another validation?

Just buy it. It's obvious you've already convinced yourself.

Just a FYI, I bought my car salvaged, from an auction, registered it as salvaged. And car fax still says clean title and 20k miles less than what’s actually on the dash.

Car fax helps non car people sleep at night. But I agre. Just buy it. We’re not going to argue and force you not to buy it when clearly you want it and have already made up your mind.

This’ll be my last post in here.

To total it, it was more than just cosmetic. I got rear ended wasnt near as bad as that and it was close to 5k to repair. I dont consider that cosmetic

Actually $5k for a regular car is normal from a body shop. That tail light, rear bumper and the “paint” could easily top $5k from insurance claim. My mustang fender bender the insurance wanted $6k just to do minor repair when I got the entire car for $4k... I had it fixed by a personal mechanic for $1k.... that said because it’s a nismo, and it’s the right quarter panel. I’m guessing this was closer to a $10k repair estimate done cheap by some quick flip shop. OP will regret it later when he sees his Z is held together with a rep kit and house screws.

That said I still agree. Notice OP made sure not to show us the actual side with damage and showed us the “prettier” side. Even then look how fkt up that real wheel gap is on the GOOD side. Let alone the side actually smashed.
