Rattling noise when starting

I'm assuming his vague 'yes' in post 5 was him answering my two part question about the location of the noise. And sure, a heat shield is definitely another possibility, not saying it isn't, I'm just going by what he said. I guess I could've asked him a second time if he's absolutely positive that the noise is in fact coming from that specific area and not under the floorboards, but at this point I don't even care.. And of coarse. We're all(for the most part, but good nonetheless ) just offering up possible solutions to the problem. That's all we can do, and I'm all for that.

Atreyu'z - you have the patience of Job, my friend.
I'm basically trying to convey that when you ask for help without putting at least a little effort into trying to communicate what you DO know or SHOULD know about an issue, you're not going to get a reliable or informed answer. I can probably come up with a hundred potential things that could "rattle" when a car is cold. Describing details about the rattle, even in a somewhat general sense, is a reasonably basic expectation.
When I worked in a shop all those years ago, the most fundamental tenant of diagnostic technique I was taught was to always collect evidence before going to the master mechanic with a question. Other than the OP's description of a rattle on a cold start, there was zero evidence presented. No location for the noise, no specific description of the rattle's characteristics, no link to an audio or video clip, no anything.
I'm not trying to drive the OP away or teach him some stupid internet lesson. I'm just telling him that he needs to be more SPECIFIC in his issue description if he wants an informed answer.
Until then, the monkey remains in pee mode.

And once again, the usual band of idiots (myself included in there) have taken a thread South.
Very far South. I just saw Pengie D. Pengwin at the Antarctic Bar & Grill.
Man you guys are weird.
