Interesting Daytona Blue Z with very low miles (9k) - No reserve auction, at $10,850 as of this post. All stock other than the hideous grill panel (so de riguer during that era).
NOTE: Displayed Carfax claims "Anniversary". BZZZT. Color, side emblem, wheels, non-HID headlamps tell a different story. (At least the description doesn't make that claim.) Other inconsistencies are apparent. Lack of any steering wheel controls nor VDC/TCS defeat switches indicating Base model (simply called "350Z") but claims it has VLSD (all other trims).Hmmm...
Edit: I looked up the VIN. Garden variety Base level Z. Caveat emptor.

Something to be said about a base model with none of the bells and whistles, no driver aids … just cerebral connections to the road / track

@icer5160@bealljk Agreed to both. And if this one does have VLSD - no matter how "funky" the OE limited slip may be compared to a "real" LSD diff - hey,. that would be ideal. I never missed having a mechanical LSD at all.
I love my OS Giken Superlock LSD (Clutch pack style), well worth the money. It's very quiet and predictable. I sold the OEM viscous LSD that came in my Enthusiast. I don't like having to remember to disable VDC when I want to have fun though. I miss that about my old base model and correct me if I'm wrong. But even if you disable VDC, if you were to completely lose traction, doesn't the system still butt in and cut power or activate ABS?
Cheers!

Mark, you're correct, the VDC defeat dash button does not completely shut down VDC as the button only controls (on/off) the speed readings from the wheel speed sensors (AKA ABS sensors); it does NOT shut off the yaw sensor (in the center console). One must physically disconnect that or as some have done, install a switch controlling power and signal transmission to/from the sensor. So, if the yaw sensor detects excess body roll independent of wheel speed, it will still kick in and cut power/brake to "stabilize" the situation.
turning VDC off completely gives you the full ability to lose control and pucker right on up …
I think TCS is the ‘mostly off’ feature you speak of …
Both the grey z and and the white z have VDC and most recently have learned (and are still learning) these limits….
Vehicle Dynamic Control does not shut off completely with a press of the VDC button without taking some dykes to the yaw sensor wiring. 98% certain of this but 2% is shaking head in doubt (admittedly MIGHT be incorrect.)
I also noticed this one recently came back, and the no reserve this time around is a pretty obvious sign that they're just wanting to be rid of it. Seems to be a very nicely put together car though with some solid upgrades. I'd be tempted to bid had I not just turbo'd my own Z. Curious to see what this one hammers for.
Saw that and checked location immediately! 🤣. But yeah, brings back memories of Shirous Interruptus. I can still remember the sickening sound of skid n' squash right outside my window. 😐
