I have about 15,500 miles on my Z and the paint already looks pretty lousy. I have a lot of chips on the front end and a few on the hood, and my rocker panels behind my front wheels and my bumper behind the rear wheels looks like it has been sand blasted. I know some people will say it is because of where I drive, but I mostly only drive the Z to and from work and most of the roads are fairly fresh macadam. I always stay far back from other cars on the highway to minimize chips and the car has been in storage all winter. I don't really like the look of the clear bra, but if I could do it over again I would definitely get one. Either that or plan to have your bumper/hood resprayed about a year after you own the car.
