possible 2JZ swap..
I've been thinking of doing a 2jz swap for a while now and I want to be fully committed to it but I don't know the proper price range for this full swap. This would include the proper mounds, harness, ECU, single big turbo that can go up to 650+ hp, etc. But I don't much time on my hands because of work and school, I normally trust most of the people on these forums so I just need a proper price range for this full 2jz swap in my 06 rev up 350z. So can anyone please give let me know how much this will cost in total? Also I will be doing all of this myself.. won't be taking it to a body shop to pay a fortune. My possible guess for this build is around 13-15k but I need someone who is experienced with this kind of situation and can help me or people that know exactly how a swap like this costs and what it requires.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Going to vary widely depending on how much you parts for the parts.
Here are a few good threads. The third one has a few costs:

I'm just shooting you straight and a 2jz swap is not for you - enjoy the car how it is until you are out of school and have a large pile of money to throw at it.

I don't know your financial situation, nor do I care, but school typically drains both of those. It will not be a simple weekend swap.
However, if you are still serious about doing it, refer to those threads I posted initially. You will have a starting point.
Right now looking at my current situations I think it would be better to keep a saving for the 2jz on the side which wont hurt and one by one start buying parts for the swap because I am 100 % serious about this swap but it will be easier when I get my promotion or when I graduate college and start my nursing career.
This is true for both time and money ... and not just for a swap build ... on my build I spent many many works nights in the garage from ~7pm to midnight/1am/2am getting as much done and I still didnt make my event!
And just because you spend a ton of money upfront to get parts quick doesnt mean it's going to be a quick build ... things will go wrong, you'll need to re-work something, a part will arrive incomplete/broken/wrong, machine shops keep hours that would rival a bank, something always comes up.
Twice as long and twice as expensive.
The best route is a little bit of option A and a little bit of option B (IMO)

For 13-15k why not just build the VQ and have an OEM functioning car? That's my thought, only swap that's not a V8 that's worth the trouble IMO would be the new TT Nissan engines.
I mean a lot of people like to v8 swap their z's, but to be honest It just doesn't feel right when I have an American engine in a Japanese car. But a good budget swap would be a ls3. ls3 swaps tend to be cheaper than a whole 2jz swap but if I TT the stock engine then it would require a lot more labor. You would have to go under the car and the engine space is so tight and packed when you have a 2jz swap you can work from up top working on a vq engine would put me in a similar scenario with a 2jz swap but less power. Plus ls and 2jz engines have a lot more power potential.
I mean, you can slap on a rear turbo, single top mount, or a vortech supercharger and get decent power, the 2jz isn't bulletproof. The argument of putting an American in there is no different than swapping a non Nissan engine in there. The truth is you are still mutilating the car and it won't run like factory.
