My 2JZ-GTE VVTI swap thread.

My ST 2JZ-GTE swap thread.
First of all, I'm doing this in a budget and will make all the parts needed for the swap locally.
The project budget is ~$5000
I was lucky enough to find a vvti engine without the immobiliser.
Complete engine with ECU and harness : $1066
R154 tranny : $800. ( I was going to try the 350z tranny, but I need to finish the car ASAP ) I have been without it for the last ~10 months.
Swap parts and labor : $1300. ( we have cheeeeap labor around here)
Single turbo + exahust manifold + wastgate + BOV + FMIC + pipes ~$1300 ( I got a crazy deal)
We will start working on the car today.
Almost forget to mention, new workshop ( they kinda specialises in 2JZ swap)
Will post pics and info regularly. Stay tuned.

I think its a 60mm. Not sure though.
Because I love the 350z.
Actually, the vvti and the non vvti uses the same short block, but different cam gear in the intake side and different intake manifold.
Also the vvti has a better power band.
I don't think the R154 out of a Soarer, since it has the regular shifter.
Will post pics of the engine and tranny later today.

Piston part numbers are different and I believe the part numbers on the rods are different as well.... I'm guessing the piston squirters. I had a 1992 SC300 5-Speed w/300,000 miles on it and was looking to do a rebuild using Toyota parts. I worked for Lexus/Toyota at the time as a parts counterman at the time so I got cost +10% on parts. The part number on the whole short blocks are different and I know that for a fact.
Good pick up on the R154 from a Soarer, they're geared a little better and it came off a 1JZGTE it's better than getting the bell housing modified on a 7M Supra to work with your set up. The VVTI is a "meh" with me... it's a pain to tune around. Most big power Supra's use GE heads because they have more room to port and polish.

2JZGTE is stamped on turbo blocks to designate "T" for Turbo... they come with piston squirters amongst other things. The intake mani on the GE's are on the passenger side while the GTE sits on the driver's side. The engines are similar but different... a GE block is not the same as a GTE block but can be made to be one relatively easily.
