Default Few questions about 06 350z

I see a 06 350z in my area with 56K Miles and 1 owner for 10K OTD price. Is this a good deal? I've read about an oil consumption problems specifically the 06 being the worst due to the Rev up engine. Do automatics have this engine and problem?

From everyone I've heard about owning the VQ35DE engines, oil consumption is mainly problematic when racing/ drifting/ gassing it all the time. And if you take care of it, their should be little to no consumption. But there is always "some" consumption with the VQ35DE and even the VQ35HR (07-08 Zs). But not enough to notice.
As for the price, with only one owner, being an 06, and low mileage, as long as it's been well maintained and taken care of, that's a fair/good price.
Do you know what trim level it is?

I would avoid the RevUp 10,000%...I've heard two bad bad bad stories of the exhuast cam VTC spring breaking and catastrophically destroying the engine.

all engines will consume 'some' oil ... you'll never get 5 quarts after you put 5 quarts in ... it's the reality of moving metal parts holding pressure.

What are you desires for the car? what do you want out of the car?

if it was me, I'd keep looking!

2006 350Zs with ATs do not suffer from the oil consumption issue, this only affected the MTs. I don't think Rev-Up engines were installed in AT equipped 350Zs.

In terms of the price, yes that's a good price if as Calvin said...the Z is clean and well maintained with paperwork to back it up. I'm also assuming this is a Coupe, not the roadster.

If you have oil consumption issues, you can probably just install a oil pan spacer to have more oil available for the car to use. It's a pretty cheap upgrade if I'm mistaken.

I had a manual '06. Was on it's 3rd engine by 38k miles. The auto equipped cars do not have the Rev-Up motor.

My first oil change on the 06 at 85k miles I used Mobil1 and consumed a quart pretty quickly. Another member suggested conventional so I switched to it & after 2,000 miles and a 500 mile road trip, it's down 10% of the space between the hash marks. That's totally acceptable IMHO. I like my 06.I don't beat on it, but don't baby it either.
