So i just bought my 350z a few days ago. It has a couple issues but today I had a scary incident and was wondering if anyone else has had this issue. I just washed my car and was leaving the wash. I left i’m first and revved to about 3k and shifted to 2nd and tried to rev past 4k but it wouldn’t, like it was on a limiter. So I pulled over and turned it off to let it sit for a minute and turned it back on. The car revved in neutral all the way to redline but I don’t know what happened. Has anyone had the same issue or have any idea of what it could be?

Edit: I know that 370z’s sometimes have a similar issue where their throttle is in a limp mode when the car has bad map sensors. Could it be related to that?

Welcome- it sounds like your Z was in limp mode after the car wash. Limp mode is activated if the ECM doesn't get clear sensor signals to indicate the engine and car is safe to run. Depending on how you washed the car, you may have saturated a sensor or electronic system that took a moment to clear. This isn't a common problem with Z33s as they have pretty good waterproofing. But depending on the condition of your used car, there may be some exposed circuits (like a missing IPDM cover) that could be the problem. Do some research and check your car over before a rain storm knocks it out.
