Default 06 350z will not take gas

Hello im currently rebuilding a 2006 350z. I recently went to pump gas into the car and it would take .1 gallons before shutting off. Ive tried using a different pump but the same thing happened and ive also tried pulling the nozzle out a little and pump. I cant even squeeze the handle all the way i barely have to pull the handle and it still shuts off. I do have a large evap leak code if that has anything to do with it. Please help! Thanks!

Welcome- did you replace the gas tank or filler neck while rebuilding this Z?

Try turning the gas nozzle upside down. Yes I'm serious. Welcome and good luck!

Try John's suggestion (above), but there's little doubt you've got some type of problem with evaporative pressure causing the pump to shut off. Check the fuel filler connection and flap to see if it's opening normally.

I've noticed on certain stations, even in different vehicles, that once the pump auto stops, you have to be diligent on squeezing slightly on the lever multiple times in order for the pump to reset it's immediate click routine.

I'm not sure how many miles you have on your 06, but you may be within the warranty time period if the EVAP tube is blocked. I remember this notice coming out a few years back: https://nissanassist.com/campaigns/n...y-enhancement/

Since the OP is trying to rebuild a totaled Z, trying to get a Nissan dealership to honor a warranty is probably wishful thinking.

There was a TSB about this issue (NTBO5-048), shutter valve isn't working correctly. Also, the fuel filler neck is metal (hard pipe) pre-bent by the factory to fit perfectly, if it got kinked then it was damaged in an accident and will need to be replaced.

Yeah - it's worth a shot to call the dealer. Nothing to lose! Worst case scenario, you end up paying for a repair that you were already going to do.

I am guessing, but you might be having problems with car’s EVAP system, which prevents gasoline vapors escaping from the fuel tank and going into the environment. The two main components.

1) Carbon Canister
2) Vapor Canister Vent Solenoid

If either of these goes bad, you won’t be able to fill the fuel tank.
