Default Z1 Street Pro LSD

Anyone running/have experience with the Z1 Street Pro LSD?

I’m rebuilding the rear suspension/subframe and figured, “while I’m in there” I’ll get rid of the factory VLSD and go to a torsen-type unit. I’ll be driving a long way to and from events, so reliability and ease of maintenance are the priorities. The car is also effectively a new build and a torsen-type means one less thing to tune while I get the rest of the car sorted.

All that to say, I was about to grab a Quaife when I ran across the Z1 SP.

Any info and actual experience is appreciated. An no one say OS Giken...;P

I was going to get that but I couldn't find anyone actually using it, then I found the Quaife for sale at a lower price than the Z1....no brainer there lol

I’ve read that it’s a rebranded brand X (Kaaz?) diff. Could be good, but it’s hard to convince people to be first in the pool on a platform this old.

I convinced myself to go OS Giken, in any case. It’s marginally more expensive but should offer a bit more security when dropping wheels off curbs and into the grass on the track.

Thanks for the feedback, Dark.

I haven't had it done yet, I want to get a different FD but haven't decided which yet. Another local guy got the OS as well, I didn't want a clutch LSD for 2 reasons:
1 I don't track
2 I don't want it to fight the VDC which I always have on

@DarkZ03 did you ever find a shop to install your diff in Chicagoland? My OS Giken is FINALLY arriving in early September and I’m looking for recs for a shop to do the install.

Thanks.

No, I haven't had it installed yet. I have yet to decide if I want to change the FD or not. I was planning to have TF works install it when it's time.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just emailed TF-Works for pricing or an outside recommendation. I am changing the FD. I’m not competing this season, but looking ahead to next year class rules mean I’m always going to be down on power, so gotta try and salvage some of that with gearing.

I’ll reach out to P&L as well (they did my tune and alignment) to see if they know anyone they trust. I’ll post back once it’s installed.
