Hi all, I've browsed the forums and can't seem to find the answer, so here I am. I ordered an aftermarket catback system for my '07 HR 350z. The manufacturer claims the system fits all 350z and v35 models, yet the flanges on the aftermarket system seem to be smaller than those on the OEM cats, and the Y-pipe seems to be several inches too long. Is there something I'm missing, or should everything fit perfectly??
Did you even care to look for the ID of the pipes before you bought them? Also what brand, Some use slip joints like Borla and might just need to be pushed in more. OEM cats should outlet to like 2.33" while a lot of cheaper exhausts will use 2.25" Most after market cats or HFCs dump to 2.5"
There is no difference in the piping post cats from DE to HR.
If the Y-Pipe is too long and it was sold as a full kit then it shouldnt be an issue as long as the mounting points line up.

I'm running a custom straight pipe setup that always gets me compliments. From the cats back I'm running a 3" Y into a 4" mid pipe back out to a 3.5" Y that ends at two 4" dia by 10" long truck tips.
It's definitely loud, but manageable if you don't drive with a lead foot.

Sounds like you received a G35 Y-pipe which is about 8" (don't quote me) longer than Z33. Most of the mfgrs who sell these "dual fit" systems offer the Y-pipe, flanged for an extension pipe (below) to suit the G.
S'far as overall fit (flanges and such), time for a tape measure. Lay out the new exhaust and measure to make sure the pipe set aft of the cats will keep the rear tips (and as importantly, the hangers) in the OE locations.
After a fair struggle, I reckon you're about right. Everything fits with OE hangers, just the Y-pipe is very much wrong. Eyeballs tell me maybe just less than 8" too long, and also a few inches too wide. Is there some well known solution to making these systems fit, or is my only answer to get them re-fabricated?
And what's the point of providing those extension pipes, if the Y-pipe provided won't fit a Z33 anyway??

Imitation is the ultimate form of flattery lol. So many copies of those in the market, that's why I went with the HKS twin, can't be confused with a replica and sounds better than the hi-power IMO.
