Prievious owner had 1 inch of (over max level dipstick) oil too much in the car and I ended up pumping it out after seeing some bubbles on the dipstick right after I shut down.
the oil is at normal levels now but whenever the engine is hot or has been running I can see small bubbles on the dipstick. but never when it's cold or has been sitting for awhile. Car runs great and pulls hard please tell me this is normal. 46k miles.

 

While it's never good to overfill the crankcase, I think your worry is unwarranted. Right after an engine has been running, some air will mix with the oil, forming bubbles. In contrast, allowing the VQ to cool and oil to drain into the crankcase, allows the oil to de-aerate for a more accurate oil level reading.

 

As stated above some bubbles are normal, there’s usually positive pressure in your crankcase, as well as plenty of chances for oil to aerate during the return trip from the top of the engine.
