Default Wheels on my Z

When I bought my Z it had 20x9's on Front and 20X10.5's on the rear. I have trashed one of the front rims and cannot find a replacement for it (AXIS Shine Gunmetal). Pic is attached. What I really want to do is replace this rim but it has been discontinued and the company has since gone out of business. Does anybody know where I can find this rim? If not I will have to buy rims all around in which case I will need to know the proper offset for the new rims. With a lowered Z, what would the proper offset be for 20" staggered rims?

If they're discontinued, your best bet is fleabay or secondhand.

With regard to your other questions, more information is needed.

As far as offset, in order to determine the right offset, you'll also need to know the wheel specs. For example, a 20x10 wheel is going to need a different offset than a 20x8 wheel to fit properly.

Are there any certain wheels that you are currently looking at? What are the specs? Are you dedicated to 20"s or would you be willing to get 18"s or 19"s?

How much of a drop are you lowered?

Once you get past the first couple hundred or so posts of trash/hate, there is some useful info on 20s :https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-...on-thread.html

Where's Travlee!?

I would recommend purchasing a whole new set. You could be down for weeks/months searching for a used replacement that fits the matching diameter/offset/color requirements. There are online wheel shops that specialize in offering used and reproduction wheels. But these sites are generally focused on OEM, not aftermarket. Regarding the offset of the wheel, this information is usually marked on the back of the spokes or inner barrel of the wheel (molded/machined or on a sticker). You will need to pull off one of the wheels to see if Axis bothered to leave a mark

EDIT: Actually after a few min Google searching, I found an online shop with what appears to be that exact model from Axis. No idea if they have it in stock though. LINK

Either do a lot of searching or find a new set.

Why would you want such a trash wheel back on your car. The thing opened up like a tin can. That picture is enough to make me never want anything from axis.

You can use this unfortunate event as an opportunity to improve the way the car handles and responds. As suggested, going to an 18 (or a lightweight 19") wheel, you can drop several pounds off the corners of your car and get better steering response and overall higher performance (acceleration and handling) if you choose not only wheels but more importantly, your new tires carefully.

The weight of those Axis wheels hovers right around 30# for a 20x10, just under that for 20x9. That's about 7# over the average Z wheels of about 23# (stock AND aftermarket). Dropping 23% weight at each corner equals amazing go-and-stick improvement.

I run forged 19s, each wheel about 20.5#. And while that's significantly light, going with a light, stiff wheel in 18" like RPF1, NT03+M, Koenig Flowform/Ampliform, you'll drop into the 18# range. Combined with a set of 245/275s in selected performance tires, you're down in the low 40#s weight range for each corner. (Compared to the 50# range for average aftermarket setups.)

Your choice. If you wanna try and find those exact wheels, good luck. That wheel was a thing in the late 2000's. Even if the company were still in biz, unlikely they'd even still make it.

Thanks for the input fellas. Thing is, I bought this car from some kid who had already started "modding" it and I unfortunately inherited those rims. My feeling is that under his watch the front rims were already weakened from hitting potholes, curbs or God knows what. I agree with you guys that I have added weight with the 20's however I bought new rubber all around when I sorted the car. If I can figure a way not to end up in the poor house, I agree that getting lesser diameter wheels with corresponding tires would be the way to go....

Hey, I forgot to post a pic of this car. It is below. I bought the Z actually by default. For years I had a Porsche 944S but it was in a flood and deemed totaled. I could not afford another vintage Porsche because they have appreciated so much. I saw a few head-to-head comparisons (even though they are totally different animals) of a 911 and a 350Z and was pleasantly surprise so I sunk the insurance $ into a Z this time. Like the car, just isn't "me" yet....

Yeah, I get it. You bought new tires and you don't want to buy new tires for a new set of wheels, but chances are you're not going to find a replacement wheel. If you do, the odds are high that another wheel is going to shatter like this one did.

My $0.02: bite the bullet, get a new set of 4 proper lightweight wheels for the Z that are forged or flow-formed and a set of good performing tires. Tires in the 18 or 19 size will be cheaper, too. In getting this Z "sorted," those wheels should have been one of the first things to go.

Thanks for your insight. I will continue the hot hunt and will include searches for 18's or 19's with tires....

No point to replace that wheel, those wheels are **** anyways. Sell them as drift spares.
