What part is this and is this a problem?
Hello my name is Trowa. I've had my 2004 350z enthusiast cvt transmission for a few years. I noticed my oil pressure over last few days has been low. I started looking at my engine again and notice this part seems and looking at diagrams couldn't see it. It seems a seal is rubbed weird. Wondering if this has been affecting performance. On another note I've been throwing a code p1610 lock code The one about the NATS system not starting the car because it doesn't recognize the key. The same key I've used for 5 years.
From the front end
The black peice By the belt.

First, your Z does NOT have a CVT. The slightly dinged cover of that black plate is not going to have any effect on performance. Finally, the key problem with the P1610 code may be the result of an aftermarket key being reprogrammed into this vehicle. Have you tried using your spare key?

I do have a spare key. Ok whatever the automatic manual shift is called. I always thought that was the continuously variable transmission that uses the computer to adjust the timing and I was under the impression that it goes out quickly like the ALTIMA. Just making sure. What is that plate for?
