Hey guys, so I have a 2004 350z 5at which I believe is the base model. Ive searched for a while now for an answer or possibly solutions so im finally posting a tread about it. The only way i can open my trunk is if i put the key in the ignition and turn the car on or to auxiliary mode. The trunk wont unlock or open other wise. The motor works because i can open it with the latch button after i put the key in but using the button on the fob and pressing the unlock button doesnt work. The trunk is only unlocked and able to open with the key in. I bought the car about 8 months ago and the previous owner or owners had done some janky wiring with the speakers and after market rear view camera so I'm assuming my cause is related to that. Thank you guys in advance for any advice!

Is the window lock switch engaged? I would check that 1st (not sure if that will impact things, but I have a hunch). Otherwise, the only thing else I can think of is the security/anti-theft system or perhaps the exterior release button (above lic plate) has been disconnected.
Good Luck!
