Default 04 350z DE build.

I have finished all my maintenance and everything on my car is now working smoothly and as it should. I’m now looking to see what kind of build I could go for that’s a little more budget friendly. I’m new to 350z’s but was wondering about how much hp and how to get the said amount of hp is possible on a DE engine. Im not trying to do anything crazy but it’s my daily and would like at least some more power. Any help would be appreciated!

270 naturally aspirated HP will be around $2500

400-425hp/400ft-lbs will be in the $5k to $8k range
600hp/600ft-lbs will be in the $10k to $15k range
1000hp/800ft-lbs will be $25k to $50k

You really dont want a ‘budget friendly’ build … gotta pay to play / do it nice or do it twice

if you aren't looking for anything crazy, i would do street clutch/ lightweight flywheel and 3.9 - 4.10 final drive gear to really enhance your cars driving characteristics, Then sign up for some track days and learn how to drive your medium powered car faster. That will make allll the difference. I used to think i needed horsepower when i first got my car...i have since come to know that it ain't about what you got, but how fast you can drive it.

Hooray, someone has taken over the "driver mods first" gauntlet!

I'm down to once a year, having gotten tired of saying it every other week and immediately followed by a new member asking "I just got a 350Z. So how do I make 600hp with bolt-ons?" Hahahahahaaaaaaaaa......

While I understand the sentiment, the Z is only as fast as it can accelerate, no driver mod is going to improve that.
It will make you faster around a track and let you learn to handle you car in different scenarios but if I want to do a 12 sec pass at a drag strip power is the only way lol.

.

Strong IMO here...

Yes, but it's about efficiency.

Driving a car to 70% of its capabilities is not nearly as fun as at 95% and I will wager that a large percentage of Z drivers have no want nor have the capabilities to push to 95. Even as trained and as good a driver as *I think* I am (laff), I might be able to push my car to 80-85% of its abilities. Heck, my SL with ~430 wheel and electronic suspension scares me at times.

So, my supposition is and always has/will be: When you can push the car beyond 80%, only THEN "have you earned" (that's a joke people, chill) a reason to push up the power. BUT, will I say this: I'm not down on people for doing the power thing at all (I'm an ex-hot rodder/drag racer), I just think money spent on a Z can be put to better use by improving the car's stick with the ground and learning how to use it.

And, its ones own money to personalize as seen fit.

If overall power is not your concern, aesthetic and driver feel mods are likely a better way to spend money.
