Which grommet specifically? Can you post a picture? The only large grommet in the firewall next to the battery that I can recall is the main wire harness for the entire engine bay. It passes through and plugs straight into the PCM mounted under the passenger side airbag.

The simplest answer is most often correct... There are TWO fuses for the ECM. Have you tried replacing both of them? If not, do that first.

Ahh yes, I see the hole you're talking about. Ok, different from what I was thinking. I don't recall if there's supposed to be a hole in the firewall there or not. If that is factory, then there should be a plug in it to keep water out. I'm wondering if someone drilled the hole for an aftermarket stereo install.

So far I've replaced the battery with a brand new one replaced all the spark plugs new air filter. It cranks but does not fire. I also noticed that my snap-on Solus edge diagnostic tool will not connect to the OBD2 port I also try to cheaper OBD scanner and it would not connect either they both just say no connection. My first thought was fuel so I removed the fuel pump and tested it with a small motorcycle battery and some jumpers and it turned on and it spit fuel out. then I blew the fuel line out from the tank into a bucket in the engine bay after disconnecting the fuel rail. After reconnecting the pump I turned the key on and waited for fuel to come out but nothing happened.... So I guess Im not getting power to the pump. I checked all my fuses and even switched the pump relay but still nothing. Any ideas would be appreciated. I also removed the air filter and tried a 3second burst of starting fluid in the intake but no start...
I agree, the best thing to do is to check the vin number and see what condition the car is in overall now, if you haven't bought it yet of course. You need to look at all the current information first to understand where the problem came from, here I was buying an Audi at an auction and looking at epicvin what build it has today, how the mileage affected the functional condition. Found out that there is a problem just with the pump, it's already clogged and even has cracks, so it needs to be replaced completely.

Default Update

It started! I just had to buy a new ipdm and find a parts car to salvage plugs off of cuz my terminals were corroded. As soon as I plugged in the new ipdm it fired right up fuel pump worked everything was fixed. I downloaded a wiring schematic and found out that the plug with the corroded pins the three pins that were corroded were two for the ECU and one of them was a ground

Glad you got it going! I'm not surprised it was the IPDM, based on the picture you sent. That battery tray location has seen better days!
