Hello everyone,
Recently I acquired a new set of wheels with these specs:

• 18"x8" + 20 || 245/40/18 - Front wheels
• 18"x9" + 18 || 245/40/18 - Rear wheels

I know that the rear tires need to be taller than the front tires. I still have my old OEM wheels and tires with me and noticed that I could use the 245/45/18 tires on my rear wheels and the 225/45/18 tires on my front wheels. However, when I went to Big O Tires, they refused to install the 245/45/18's in the rear as they said I would rub my fender (Note: I am lowered by about an inch).

I would go back to my OEM wheels and tires, but rims itself are rusting out and are unable to hold air.

Now I am stumped on what I should do. Should I find a new set of OEM wheels and put those back on? Can I just roll the rear fenders and put the 245/45/18's on the rear? Should I get my TCS recalibrated by Z Garage? I would like to keep the wheels I currently have and not have to roll the fenders, but I would also like to know what would be the cheapest way to fix this issue. Thanks!

Put the 245 tire on the 9" wheel and test fit on left rear. Shouldn't be an issue. If you were going 275, might be close but no issue. If you need to roll and seal, I've got a guy in your area (if he's still doing it (been a while).

245/45-18 on that wheel will fit no issue and not rub. Go back to discount and have them install the tires.


245/40 front and 245/45 rear is a great handling combo


you can even run that same 18x9:up front without issue

I went back to ask if they’ll install it. They said they won’t install them because used tires are a liability for them. They also refused to install it because they still believe it’ll rub.

At this point I might just sell these wheels I currently have and buy a new/used set of stock wheels and tires. If anyone else has any ideas, please let me know.
