Default C1143 and fighting with steering angle reset

I have an 03 350z track edition and I broke my clock spring. When I replaced my headers I was careless with disconnecting and reattaching my steering column to the rack. I have replaced this part and the new part did not fix my issue. I thought all I had to do was relearn the steering angle sensor and everything would be fine. The problem is that the reset procedure will constantly fail. Initially I was using my shops snapon scan tool but gave up on getting a successful reset. I dealt with turning off the vsc every time I get in the car for a while and after getting fed up with it I finally decided to get another clock spring to install. Even with the vsc "off" I will still get low speed abs activation with the wheel turned and my foot on the brake.

I have not modified anything with my abs or tcs. I'm pretty sure I'm only dealing with the clock spring and steering angle sensor that is attached to the back of it. The thing is that I have replaced the clock spring (for the second time) making sure to keep the sensor centered. I swapped over the steering angle sensor without moving it but all I can think is that this sensor must be off by a certain amount. This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me considering there is an option to reset this sensor with a scan tool. But I have tried resetting it so many times. I have been driving straight ahead at 5mph in an empty parking lot so I can tell the new sensor this is the new zero point and It refuses to reset successfully.

The problem is once or twice I have managed to have a successful reset just for the issue to come back immediately as if it didn't work. I am now revisiting this issue with my own autel scan tool and it gives me the same issue. My scan tool says -60 deg with the wheel straight. I guess I should have bought a new sas instead of the clock spring. Idk what I was thinking with that one:/

When the sas reset fails I get error 22. The scanner says conditional not correct or request sequence error. I was hoping for some insight from someone here. I have read other posts involving c1143 and they usually have something more going on with disabled abs systems or something of the like. I just can't make sense of why I can't get a successful sas reset. I think it went through successfully once or twice out of trying dozens of times. Those successful attempts never changed anything which is driving me crazy. Is there something else in the steering column that tells the car if the wheel is straight?
