Side mirror
I cracked the right side door mirror. Where do I get a replacement and how hard is it to do? In addition, can I just buy the whole mirror mechanism? The paint on the current one is really faded and I'd like to replace the whole thing assuming I can get one in a factory color. I may be dreaming, but I don't know much about the replacement parts. Yet. THANK YOU.
You can get a whole replacement 350z mirror assembly (housing, glass, motor) from
CarParts.com or AutoZone or even a junkyard; it's a moderate DIY job involving removing door trim and swapping units, but finding one pre-painted in your factory color (find your paint code!) is the best bet for a seamless look, saving you body shop costs. Yes, you can buy the whole mechanism, and it's often easier to swap the whole unit than just the glass if the housing or motor is damaged or you want a fresh paint job. Where to Get a Replacement

- Aftermarket Sites: CarParts.com, AutoZone, NAPA Auto Parts (check for 350z specific fitment).
- Dealerships: For OEM parts, but pricier.
- Junkyards/Salvage Yards: Great for finding a used, factory-painted complete unit in your color.
- eBay/Amazon: Good for finding aftermarket or used parts, just check reviews and return policies.
- Moderate DIY: It's doable with basic tools. You'll remove the interior door panel/trim (often just clips and a screw) to access the bolts holding the mirror on, disconnect electrical connectors (power, heat, signals), unbolt the old, bolt on the new, and reconnect everything.
- Check Your Paint Code: Look in the driver's door jamb or glovebox for the paint code (e.g., "KAD" for Gunmetal) to find a color-matched replacement, which saves big money on painting.
- Whole Assembly: Recommended if the casing, motor, or paint is bad. You get everything in one piece, often pre-painted if you're lucky.

Bought an aftermarket powered/camera equipped and color matched unit for a friend/customer's Civic on Amazon. Took my tech all of 5 minutes to install - plug n' play. Perfect operation, great color match. Cost less than half of an OEM unit (which are usually aftermarket rebrands anyways.)

I did this on my Z when I swapped over to the Nismo multifunction blue tinted wide angle mirror glass. No more blind spots!
Here's a write-up using a similar mirror glass replacement (APR): https://my350z.com/forum/body-interi...lass-only.html
