Can't see your link but if it's a cs Z then it might be TopicsII ride. It's getting work on at Signal.

yah that's the one. So what's the weight distribution now with the lighter motor? What was the point of this swap?

well he did blow his procharged 3.5, so i guess they didn't want to deal with the headache of the supercharger no more and went lighter and a lot more rev happier SR, which can easily take 450 hp especially with Signal doing all the work.

I would have put in a RB26DETT over a 4 banger anyday.

different strokes for different folks....

same reason why people take out the 2JZ in the supra for the 4-cyl turbo motor.. (3S-GTE is it?)

True, but the SR20DET isn't just any ol' 4 banger...this is a tried and true race engine that can handle some serious boost and deliver some massive power from only 2 liters...since the original layout of the 350Z has the VQ35DE, I don't know if the length of the engine bay is long enough to accept the RB26DETT...maybe it was tried but the SR20DET seemed to fit better being a 4 cylinder instead of an inline 6...who knows.

Yes it does! thanks for the pic. Is that swap even legal to do? I've always wanted a skyline but with the complications and cost of getting it, I wouldn't mind swapping an RB into the Z...can you even get those engines here in the states or do you have to buy the whole skyline?

You can get RB's(20DET, 25DET, and 26DETT) fairly easily here in the states. That is, if you have the money. Check heavythrottle, total-boost, jspec, and maybe even motorex.

But how much does RB26DETT weight? wouldn't dropping a RB26 into a Z completely throw off its' weight distribution? RB26DETT is the only engine i would consider for a swap. I would prob use the RB25DET tranny to retain RWD.

well the engine will run around 5-6k but the install is gonna be around7-10k since it involves a large amount of fabrication, remounting, and cutting of your engine bay/firewall, this is not a bolt on swap!
