Default Wrong name on speeding ticket...dismissed?

I got a speeding ticket on the 405 last weekend going 86 in a 65. My first name is mis-spelled on the ticket. Can this ticket be dismissed simply because of my first name being mis-spelled on the ticket?

Anyone care to share their experiences with similar ticket mishaps?

Heh, unfortunatly your name spelling doesnt matter, they dont even need your name - just your plate number to issue a ticket (example would be radar cameras that send you a picture of you speeding, your still liable)

On the same note if anyone in vegas has a ticket I can get it taken care of for free, had 5 in last year and a half and most Ive ever paid was 30 dollars court fee with no points on my record.

What if your plate changed since the ticket? In my case, it went from the standard plate to the personalized plate. In any case, I went ahead and showed up for court. Pled guilty. Got fine dropped by $60. Still gonna be paying almost $100.

take it to one of those lawyers that fight for you, ticket clinic, ticketbusters, etc. It has worked for me everytime, you usually pay around $69 and don't even have to show up to court, and you just pay court fees with no points nor school.

I got one dismissed because the officer made a mistake on the ticket, i don't know what mistake it was, but that's what the lawyers said. I recently won another one, but had to pay court fees ($211 in court fees, better than paying $186 for the ticket plus the points).

No the misspelled name will not get it dismissed. I dont mean to be rude, but why would it? I guess I dont see any possible reason that a misspelled first name would get a ticket dismissed. This is just a plain dumb question. Please explain your reasoning.

Its a valid question. Tickets get thrown out all the time for having wrong information, time, dates, etc on them. Having said that, I doubt it would get thrown out for that reason, but stranger things have happened.

Not rude at all rbeverid

Technicalities like mistakes on tickets can get the ticket dismissed. I just wanted to know if a wrong name is one of those technicalities. I was speeding and I deserve the ticket but if I can get out of this one, I would like too.

I went to court with a similar thing, but had other ways of fighting the ticket. I got the ticket dismissed because the Officer admitted he didn't remember the incident and was going off what he wrote on the ticket, but in texas the law reads that the officer must testify based upon independant recollection. At one point during the case though, I asked.

" You failed to correctly spell my first and last names, why should the court have any faith that you have the ability to opperate a sophisticated peice of technology such as a radar detector."

Man that got me a glare. The judge chuckled though. Seriously, I heard him stifle a laugh.

MY best friend got a ticket for 115 in a 55 DISMISSED because his name was spelled incorrectly on the ticket.

This was about 10 years ago in PA. So, yes, in some states this MAY get you off.

I just got a ticket a week or 2 ago 50 in 30 zone. The mess up thing is that right where he pulled me over was a Speed sign it changed to 40. Im going to argue this. he still gave me 20 and over BASTARD...

I think im go take it to one of them places so I don't have to show up in court. Plus I thinkl it will be cheaper. Can someone give me some names of those little traffic places??
