Default bye bye Db 350z :(

Well today on my way to work I got in an accident. A large navigator switched across two lanes of traffic w/o signaling and slamed into the front right fender of my Z. The impact slamed me sideways and into the embankmant wall where I spun to a stop. Im fine minus a few bumps and bruises but the Z is totaled, every body panel on the car was decimated.... cant even tell what kind of car it is now.

******* was on his cellphone driving like a maniac, I mean ive seen kids in jettas weave in and out of traffic, but jesus a full grown man in a monster pos like that at 75 mph!!! I wanted to kill the ****er. Guy insinuated it was my fault, kept saying **** like did you lower that car or something, cant even see it. Wow did you speed up as I was switching lanes? OMG Im so pissed/sore.

Sorry if Im ranting and raving but this was the first nice thing Ive ever really owned and wasnt that easy for me to get... just needed somewhere to vent.

So I guess this is goodbye, thanks for everyones help answering my questions, your a great bunch of guys (and gals ). Maybe with some more hard work I can get another Z some day and come back to you guys but for now adios....

Glad you're ok. You can replace it once the insurance settled?

Not sure, he blamed me so the cop didnt put anyone at fault on the ticket, so lawyers first. Also took me forever to save the 10k down to get a payment I can afford, with depreciation on a 2003 base model I wont get any money back from the insurance, hell Ill be lucky if they pay it off. I just dont see how I can replace it.

Very sorry to hear that. People around my town drive like MANIACS too. I've seen everything from punk kids in SUV's run stop signs right in front of me when I had the right-a-way (thank god I wait to see if they're going to stop or not before I go, otherwise I may have met the same fate) to fools trying to drag race me on crowded streets. Gotta be damn careful. If something doesn't feel right, I'll usually just head back home and call it a day.

Anyways, hope to see you around again sometime. Good luck in whatever you plan on doing.

I wonder if your lawyer can get his cell phone records to prove he was talking on the phone when the accident occured?

I don't know if that would help.....just a thought.

Sorry about your mis-fortune.

Sorry to hear that man. I just don't like drivers in huge SUVs, there's absolutely no need for them. As long as you're okay, that's all that matters.

As far as the Z, I'm sure you can find a good deal on another base model or if not, get a 1970s 240Z and a motorcycle. Can't go wrong with those.

Sorry to hear that man... outlawing cell phones while driving should be a nationwide mandate. Good luck with your case, hopefully it will be open and shut in your favor.

From some stories I've heard, either insurance companies or judges (maybe both) can check your cell phone record to see if you were talking on the phone at the time of the accident (even in states where it's legal to talk & drive) and if you were, then you're screwed. So I'd say that the SUV driver is gonna get screwed.

I am sorry to hear that and the most important part is that you're ok.

I am at odds in understanding how the insurance works in the US. Say it was entirely your fault and you have "all risk", doesn't your insurance cover everything? Maybe, it is not "all risk" in your case?

You have a moral obligation to find and obtain another 350Z!!!! Don't let this ***** in his tank take your dream car away from you! If it was really his fault, then your car should get replaced, not just paid off.

Make sure you bring up his half-wit remarks if at all possible. Comments like "Did you lower that car or something, can't even see it" are OBVIOUS cop-outs to being negligent. It's hard to miss a Daytona Blue Z, lowered or not, and it's not like the 1" you could drop it would make all that much difference, especially when the butt-monkey wasn't looking for it in the first place....

Him jumping up and down saying it was your fault doesn't amount to a pot of **** in the eyes of the lawyers because you say it's his fault, he says it's your fault, one of you is obviously lying, so neither of your fingerpointing should weigh in. If I were you, I would start getting my facts straight. Think like an accident reconstruction specialist...Where was the impact on your car, are there any skid-marks on the road from either car, etc. Try to help your insurance company make their case.

You need to F*** this guy and get a new car....Period. That's what I would do.

samw1978 - so sorry to hear the story but glad to hear you're ok, so... there's no witness?
Thanks, not sure about witnesses, nobody bothered stopping thats for sure

ad350 -man, sorry to hear about that. where did this happen?.......95 or 15
Niether, on the 215 from vegas to henderson.

MoZi-I am at odds in understanding how the insurance works in the US. Say it was entirely your fault and you have "all risk", doesn't your insurance cover everything? Maybe, it is not "all risk" in your case?
Its called full coverage here, not all risk. That is what I had on the car but in America they are only required to pay what the vehicle is worth at the time of the accident. I paid alot for the car because I was TO eager to get it and had a large sum down. With the way the car depricated It should pay off near what I owe. Thats the reason Im so upset, basicly Im out 10k with no car

Most amazing thing was that the cop sided with him! Wasnt blatant but I got that impression. Cop kept making ******** comments too. "Yeah, you kids gotta watch out with those fast cars" Kid?!? Such ********, they see an older guy in a SUV and a young guy in a 350z so it must be the sports cars fault.
