NNA reported 2003 sales of 36,728 and 2004 sales of 30,690. Thru October of 2005 they report 23,167 Z's sold. They're on track to sell about 28,000 for 2005.
Interesting that sales have been decreasing steadily since 2003.
Not really, once the "new-thing" factor wore off you would have to expect sales to settle down. I bet it will continue to decline slowly until the next generation Z is released and then there will be another spike in sales.
What's important is that the G35 sales continue to rise. Since we share so many parts, that will help guarantee a long like for the Z production. BTW, Nissan discontinued the Z in 1996 - that year they only sold about 6000 in the US.
The 00001 Z was auctioned off and if I remember correctly, it was a dealer in Oregon (or Washington) that bought it. I doubt Leno would be interested in a "cheap" production car.
Nissan doesn't publish a breakdown by trim level, color or roadster vs. coupe. In '04 when they were initially released, the word on the street was that about 1/3 of the Zs would be roadsters. That would be about 10,000 per year.
