Default "Perfect Shifts"

Whats the RIGHT RPM's to hard launch your Z's from 1st to 2nd and so on..... Do you have to hit 6500 rpm before you shift to another gear?

6500 rpm ??? this is your first manual car, huh?

When I'm not driving her hard, I usually shift around 2k from 1st to 2nd.

3k rpms for every other gear thereafter

He asked about a hard launch. And he wasn't asking if he should launch at 6500rpm, he was saking if he shoud shift at 6500 rpm in each gear.

If you're drag racing, the short answer is to experiment with a launch that will propel you forward quickly, but with as little wheel spin as possible. Nexy: shift at redline every time.
Feathering the clutch will get you off the line with less wheel-spin when launching from a higher rpm, but it's hard as hell on your clutch.

Obviously this is not adviseable for daily driving.

What about dropping the clutch and feathering the throttle instead? Any adv/disadv to that?

dropping the clutch is always bad in a race kind of situation...it can either be hit or miss with off the line speed/wheel spin

I'm no expert, but I do a drop-cluth launch at 2k at the track with my stock Z. With my Z32, 3k launches worked well. I tried the 3k launch in my Z33 and there is way too much wheel spin on the stock tires. You're looking for the best compromise between traction/wheel spin and keeping your RPMs up.

Or not. I know nothing.
