Default winters over.

Hey guys I was just wondering now that the snow appears to be done for the season how did everyone manage to get through the winter with the Z??

I know that I wound up in a cab more than once due to the snow.

Me and my maxima did just fine in the snow, although ive been thinking about getting ride of it and getting a used pathfinder.

As for the Z, well she spend the better part of January in my garage, started her every other day, i've only put 2k on her since december, got the car in sept and its onl got 4100 on it, not that bad for a car that is almost 7 months old

The Z was perfect for the winter. Of course, I had blizzaks on. They work wonders. I actually looked forward to the snow. Luckily in DC, we never got to much snow...or else the Z would have become a plow and the tires really wouldn't matter.

Default winter? what winter?

for those of us in california there was no winter, there was only a couple days where it was slightly cold, it was more like fall.

made it through the winter here in ohio with OEM tires and i have the ulcers to show for it. This car was terrible in the snow with the original tires. as stated above I have heard that the blizzaks made the difference. I tried to salvage some control by putting about 135lbs of removable weight in the hatch when it snowed or was in the forecast. One day on the way home from work with less than a 1/4 inch on the ground I took 45min for a usual 20min trip. had to go home idle speed, no touch of the gas what-so-ever. the crown in the road was enough to send my a**-end out to the right. bottom line though, no accidents, and no body damage. Next year though, blizzaks for sure.

I've spent the past couple of weeks looking forward to when snow tires go on sale.

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!!!!!! Anyone know of a good winter tire that is a knock off of the Blizzaks or simply just cheaper. I do realize that with the Z one does always want to use the best of the best, but if I can get a tire that performs similar to the blizzaks but arent damn near 300 a tire that would be great. I mean they would only be on the car a few months and in those months performance and sports handling take a back seat to just being able to get home. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that when it comes to snow tires on the Z, anything that will perform close to or just like the Blizzaks is pretty much just as expensive.

Default all seasons worked wonders

I used sumitomo htrZ tires. 40K warranty Z rated all seasons and they worked great. Of course I have a stick thus modulating the throttle does have a big benefit. Otherwise $118 per tire at Sears couldnt go wrong.

You're nuts driving that thing through our winters! For almost as much as you pay for new tires - you can get yourself a beater for the winter. Of course, down there in Dayton you probably don't get the lake effect pounding like we get up here in Cleveland. I got my Z about a month ago and have only driven it like six times

Fortunately, I got the Jeep for the winter

your right about the winter. here in dayton, the snow is much more predictable and I can plan for it. there were two times i made arrangements to get a ride into work. the time i spoke of above happened when the snow crept up cause it got colder than it was supposed to. up there in cleveland, that lake effect thing is nuts. i have been up there in a snow storm when the radio at the same time was saying that there was no snow in the forecast.

Winter's almost gone here, and all things considered, I've gotta give the Blizzaks an A+. I was fortunate enough to only get caught in 2 snowstorms this winter, but the Blizzaks handled them with the greatest of ease.

i am so glad i stored my z in my garage cause there seemed like there were a pothole around every corner of a street. and i think in michigan they over-salt the roads.

oh well, springs here!

From Jan. 03 to Mar. 22, the Z was under cover, while I drove my 1990 240sx. Winter in Maryland can be nasty, snow, rain and sleet all on the same day!!
